SHSMU Came to USST for Medical-engineering Collaboration

On the afternoon of April 23th, the delegation led by Dean of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and academician of Chinese Academy of Science came to Fuxing Road Campus of USST for further communication regarding medical-engineering interdisciplinary work.

USST President Ding Xiaodong addressed attendees with a speech. He pointed out that since the establishment of the Medical Engineering Interdisciplinary Innovation Institute and Medical Engineering Interdisciplinary Graduate School, the medical-engineering interdisciplinary work has accelerated its steps. Doctors and teachers joined in their efforts, to carry out scientific research, dig out innovative potential, and workout clinical medical problems. At present, some medical-engineering interdisciplinary projects like domestic replacement of surgical suture needles has gone beyond expectations, and possesses the industrialization foundation, and are expected to pose great market prospects, so the urgent task is to push ahead with the construction of professional medical-engineering interdisciplinary innovation and transfer platforms, to implement the medical-engineering interdisciplinary work, and convert it into a medical instrument that civilian will benefit a lot from, and reach the original aspiration of the medical-engineering interdisciplinary work. Vice President Liu Ping talked about the evaluation and management of the medical-engineering project, the medical-engineering interdisciplinary talents platform and the construction and planning of the medical-engineering interdisciplinary transfer platform.

Chen Guoqiang noted in his speech that the medical engineering interdisciplinary cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and USST works well. There is an inefficiency in national high-tech medical instruments, medical products and scientific materials that were highly dependent on foreign imports, and independent innovation of high-tech medical R & D and production, the cooperation between the two schools means a lot and boasts vast space. Some departments of both schools should make brave strides in talent cultivation and teacher recruitment and improve coordinative effects.
