On the morning of May 29th, a forum titled: Medical-engineering Interdisciplinary Innovation was held. The forum was held by: USST, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences and SIMIC Holdings Co., Ltd. They also commented on the Innovation and Transfer Platform for Medical Device program. Oriented by major medical demands, it will gather resources from schools, enterprises, hospitals, chancellors and the research institutes to conduct interdisciplinary research. The device will develop import-oriented and clinically urgent high-end medical devices and materials, tackle key technologies of medical equipment, forming a closed loop for“hospital-university-institute-enterprise-hospital” medical devices.
Liu Ping (Vice President of USST), Wu Tao (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine), Xie Xiaoming,(Executive Deputy Director of Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Qing Xi (President of SIMIC Holdings Co., Ltd) altogether signed the official agreement.
This joint establishment of innovation and transfer platform conforms to a global new round of scientific reform and industrial revolution, and strategic choices for winning over initiative strategies for the Comprehensive Health industry, which will inject industrial strength into the continuous implementation in medical-engineering interdisciplinary projects.
In September of last year, USST and Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine worked together to build the Medical-engineering Innovation Research Institute. Over the past 8 months, we have witnessed the industrial implementation of 5 projects, the industrial transformation of 14 projects, and the development of 38 projects. During the epidemic, all medics at hospitals affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine carried out 39 cooperative projects with USST for first-line medical needs. As a leader in the Integrated Circuit industry, the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences has joined hands with SIMIC Holdings Co., Ltd to enter into the Medical industry, contributing to the transfer and application of such key technologies as sensors in the area of medical devices.
