Vice President Sheng Chun Led A Team to Visit Singapore and Australia

From November 14 to 21, Sheng Chun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of USST, led a delegation to visit Singapore Institute of Management, Curtin University in Australia, University of Technology Sydney and University of New South Wales, accompanied by Zhao Laijun, Dean of the Business School of USST, and Zhang Guang, Deputy Director of the Department of System Science of the Business School. During the visit, the delegation successfully signed a formal cooperation agreement on "3+1+X Undergraduate to Master's Degree" with Singapore Institute of Management, and a memorandum of cooperation with Curtin University in Australia, and visited and sympathized with the visiting scholars and students from USST at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales.
On November 15, the delegation visited Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) and was warmly received by Wei Guoji, the provost of SIM. Sheng Chun and Wei Guoji had an in-depth discussion on business education, student cultivation and exchange visits between teachers and students, and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities and a formal cooperation agreement on "3+1+X Undergraduate to Master's Degree" for business majors. Attending the signing of the agreement were: Wei Guoji, Provost of Singapore Institute of Management, Yu Yanping, Director of International Admissions and Cooperation of SIM, Hazel Westwood, Director of International Education of Birmingham Business School of the University of Birmingham, and Hao Zhang, General Manager of SIM China. The delegation also visited the campus environment, student learning and living facilities and had cordial exchanges with the Chinese students on the quality of the program, the cost of study and living as well as future development.

The delegation visited Curtin University in Australia and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two universities, and reached an agreement on joint undergraduate and master's degree programs in the field of business.
On November 17, the delegation was invited to visit Curtin University in Australia, where they were warmly hosted by Mr. Zhang Xiaotian, Associate Vice Chancellor of Curtin University, and Ms. Vanessa Chang, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Curtin University. This visit to Curtin University is a return visit to the invitation issued by Seth Kunin, Executive Vice Chancellor of Curtin University during his visit to USST on April 13 early this year. The two sides firstly reviewed the cooperation and friendship between the two universities, and then held talks on the areas of cooperation and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the international accreditation status and experience in business, and reached a preliminary agreement on the cooperation of 3+1 undergraduate and 1+1 postgraduate dual-degree cultivation in AACSB-accredited majors. Attending the meeting were Rob Evans, Dean of Internationalization at the Department of Business Law, Guy Harris, Manager of Multinational Partnerships and Development, Grace Ang, Senior Advisor of Global Partnerships, and Prof. Ying Qian, Visiting Scholar of the Department of Systems Science, Business School of USST. The delegation also visited Curtin University's campus environment and infrastructure, and conducted research on Curtin University's overseas education, international student cultivation and course management.

From November 19 to 20, USST delegation visited University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and University of New South Wales (UNSW), and met and exchanged ideas with visiting scholars from USST in Australia. Accompanied by Assistant Professor Wang Shoujin, Visiting Scholars Qian Ying and Li Wangyan, Alumni International Student Wang Yuehan and other Chinese international students of USST, the delegation visited the Business School, the School of Computer Science, the libraries, the faculty studios and the PhD laboratories of UTS and UNSW respectively, and also exchanged views with Mr. Liang Ming, the administrative director of the Institute of Australia-China Relations (IACR), who had visited USST early this year. The delegation also had a discussion with USST visiting scholars, Chinese scholars, master and doctoral candidates at the University of Technology, Sydney. Mr. Sheng Chun expressed his sincere sympathy to the students and faculty members and highly praised their hard work and fruitful achievements. He said that visiting scholars, Chinese scholars and international students are important bridges to promote education and culture at home and abroad, and encouraged the scholars attending the symposium to strengthen the contact and cooperation with domestic universities, and encouraged the international students to make great efforts to learn advanced knowledge and concepts, and return to their home country to develop and contribute to the construction of the motherland after finishing their studies.

The signing of cooperation agreements with Singapore Institute of Management and Curtin University in Australia during this visit has received friendly responses and positive feedback from the partner institutions in Singapore and Australia, deepening the cooperative relationship between USST and Singapore Institute of Management and Curtin University, closely enhancing student and academic exchanges with the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales, and laying a solid foundation for the development of international joint cultivation in the field of business education, and helping to promote the internationalization of USST.
