USST Holds Finals of First National College Students’ Career Planning Competition (Growth Track & Vocational Division)

On May 10^th, finals of the first National College Students’ Career Planning Competition (growth track & vocational division) kicked off at USST. 164 participants of different universities demonstrate their growth and qualities through learning and practice to achieve vocational goals after such three series as theme statement, impromptu questions and falling offers.

The first National College Students’ Career Planning Competition was hosted by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, with a theme of "Building dreams with strong aspirations, Pursue future with career planning". With moral education and employment education as a keynote, it highlights the demonstrative significance and educational value. The competition consists of three tracks: campus competition, provincial competition, and national finals. A growth track is built for middle and low-grade students, while an employment track is established for senior students, and a teaching track of college student career development and employment guidance is set up for college employment guidance teachers. Each track is divided into higher education group and vocational education group.

According to the head of the organizing committee of the competition, a total of 9.52 million students, covering 2740 universities, have signed up for the competition. Among them, 7.44 million people registered for the student growth track and 2.08 million people for the student employment track. 3707 teachers, covering 1565 universities and 1921 teaching teams, joined in the teaching track. The final of the teaching track was successfully held on April 20th at Shanghai Normal University.

In recent years, the Ministry of Education attached importance to career education for college students, effectively promoting the integration and promotion of career education and employment guidance in various universities, enhancing the awareness of career planning among college students, consolidating the joint efforts of all parties to contribute to the employment of college graduates. All universities in various regions employs competitions as carriers to promote the construction of career systems, and practical activities as a strategy to enhance students' professional qualities to achieve the goal of promoting learning, teaching, and development through competitions.

As is reported, the national finals of the Higher Education Group (Students’ Growth Track) will simultaneously be held at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the national finals of the Student Employment Track will be held at Fudan University and Shanghai Arts and Design Academy on May 11th. During the finals, various universities carried out different kinds of employment promotion activities.
