From 23rd to 25th November 2024, the Asia Oceania Floorball Confederation (AOFC) General Assembly Meeting was convened in Bangkok, Thailand. At this meeting, YUAN Yong, a faculty member of USST’s Department of Physical Education (DPE), was elected as a vice president of the AOFC with a unanimous vote. This is the first time for a USST’s faculty member to hold such an important post at the AOFC, which not only means a tremendous breakthrough on the development of our physical career, but also marks a momentous milestone of the progress of Chinese floorball.
At this meeting, representatives from nearly 20 countries and regions of Asia and Oceania gathered together with the purpose of discussing the development strategies for floorball at length. On behalf of China, YUAN Yong, with extraordinary contributions to the floorball, sophisticatedly educational and practical experience as well as long-term efforts to disseminate and promote the floorball project, earned himself the approbation from all members present.
In recent years, USST has achieved distinct achievements in physical education reform and the promotion of diversified sports, gradually making its presence felt in emerging sports. Such examples are too numerous to list. Various USST’s participants have made exceptional performances and earned their deserved grades in floorball, flag football, fitness and bodybuilding, chess, card games and so on. In addition, USST has formed a distinctive campus physical culture through a raft of approaches, such as initiatively introducing internationalized sports, optimizing the PE curriculum system, forming multi-level competition platforms and making an in-depth integration with the community sports and regional sports. These innovative strategies not only enrich the extracurricular life of both faculty members and students but also provide much more room for students’ all-around development. USST has carried great weight in boosting students’ heathy growth and enhancing their comprehensive literacy in PE, and has made positive contributions to China’s national fitness program.

With years of efforts dedicated to the promotion of the popularization and development of floorball in China, Mr. YUAN Yong has finished the writing of quite a few teaching guides for floorball and developed floorball skill level standards for youth, which provides scientific basis for their physical education and skill upgrade. Besides, Mr. YUAN has also promoted the in-depth development of the Special Olympics Unified Sports, advocating the unified sports between athletes with disabilities and individuals without disabilities and promoting the deep penetration of floorball in national fitness. Moreover, he has also actively popularized this emerging sport and has helped floorball gain wider recognition and development through multiple competitions inside and outside China. Meanwhile, he has devoted himself to the curriculum reform and talent cultivation, training a good number of floorball athletes. Quite a few of his students have been selected into the national team and participated in international competitions on behalf of China, further enhancing China’s influence in the international of floorball.
