The awarding ceremony of Komori scholarship was held at our school, on November 14th, 2019.
Before the ceremony, Wu Jianyong, Secretary of Party Committee of USST, gave reception to Yoshiharu Komori and the entourage and extended great gratitude to Komori for his kindness in donations and grants. At the same time, they talked about high-level construction of USST. Komori noted that with a long relationship with USST, he would take advantage of his resources in the world’s printing area to support the construction and development of USST, which would contribute to talents cultivation, disciplinary construction and scientific research of our school. Both sides share their opinions for the coming 5 years of educational collaboration between USST and Komori Corporation. Apart from scholarship, they also forged the overseas internship program, yearly subsidies for teachers and opportunities for students to study in Japan.
Afterwards, 2019 awarding ceremony of Komori scholarship was held at No.1 conference room of graphic information center. Wu Jianan, secretary of Party Committee of College of Communication and Art Design outlined the appraisal of Komori scholarship that was shared by 20 outstanding students. Up to now, Komori scholarship was shared by a total of 240 students, some of who expressed their blessings and gratitude to graduates by video. Meng Baoquan, office manager of USST Foundation Association, received the donation check on behalf of our school. Komori gave the certificates to the receivers of 2019 Komori scholarship and signed his name on these certificates. Having won a lot of encouragements, these students also kept their valuable memories.
Komori pointed out that the printing industry would never fade away and hoped that people could stay confident with the printing industry and strived for it. At the same time, he promised that Komori scholarship would continue and lay a solid foundation for cultivating and motivating more talents. He had great expectation for students to shoulder the responsibility of developing the printing industry. He noted that Komori scholarship would break conventional limits to the recognition of advanced cultures and printing technology of Komori Corporation, and built a bridge for joint cultivation of talents.
As the biggest producer in Japanese offset press apparatus and instrument industry, Komori Corporation took a lead in the Japanese printing industry and had established a great collaborative relationship with schools. Since the beginning of 2006, Komori Corporation engaged in moving forward the school-enterprise collaboration, established enterprise scholarship in consecutive 10 years and more, to inspire outstanding students to get close to the printing industry and achieve all-round development into talents. Yoshiharu Komori was born into a printing equipment manufacturing family, took for the management and administration of the printing industry and then assumed the president of the Japanese Association of Printing Machinery Industry. He played an important role in the world’s printing industry. He made a lot of contributions to the development of the world’s printing industry and won widespread admiration from the area. Back in 2006, USST conferred the title of “honorary professor” upon Komori. It is hoped that as Komori Corporation deepens its collaboration with our school, and there will be a positive driving force for the development of Chinese printing education and printing industry.
