On June 2nd, Professor Chen Jian, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was appointed as Distinguished Professor of USST. The ceremony was held at French Cultural Park on camous.
USST President Ding Xiaodong extended warm welcome to the arrival of Chen Jian, and presented Prof. Chen a brief introduction on the history, school layout, discipline construction and talents cultivation of USST. President Ding pointed out that Food Science and Engineering could make joint efforts with the team led by Professor Chen to boost the development of the Shanghai food industry and the research in other related academic fields.
Vice President Liu Ping gave a brief introduction on Professor Chen and his academic achievements. USST President Ding Xiaodong presented Professor Chen the certificate of Distinguished Professor.
Professor Chen expressed his gratitude to the invitation from USST. He noted that USST enjoys unique advantages in interdisciplinary development. The discipline of Food Science and Engineering is a comprehensive applied subject worth studying and exploring. The development of the discipline requires interdisciplinary cooperation. After the ceremony, the guests present had discussions about the future development of Food Science and synergy innovations. Professor Chen also gave an academic report entitled “Future Food Technology: Tasks and Challenges” to USST faculty and students.
