1) Collaborative manufacturing system management
The research includes:
Collaborative manufacturing cooperation model research. It focuses its research on the supply chain network, and network of supply and demand including the supply chain network, and the collaboration research of the supply and demand network in the collaborative manufacturing environment, etc. The research, with Professor Dong Qiong---- the founder of super-network as its PI, aims to make breakthrough in both theory and methods in the field of super-network, complex networks and other systems science theories and methods. By integrating super-network, supply chain network, and network of supply and demand, it will deepen and expand the connotation of super-network research. The research achievements will further boost the influence of the Super-Network Research Center (China) at home and abroad, creating conditions for it to become one of the international research centers in the field.
Collaborative manufacturing production scheduling and equipment maintenance research. Research on collaborative manufacturing production scheduling includes cloud service production scheduling based on knowledge integration, behavioral production scheduling based on intelligent computing, etc. A new mode of scheduling that integrates new machines and people is proposed and it has been applied in semiconductor and TFT-LCD and other industries. Research on equipment maintenance at the collaborative manufacturing service platform includes remote equipment maintenance and pre-maintenance mode and strategy research, online equipment maintenance knowledge base construction and maintenance technology on the Internet model and cloud service platform, and its application in large petrochemical enterprises, etc.
Collaborative Manufacturing Services. It aims to explore the scientific laws for personalized production and services to optimize allocation of the overall manufacturing resources for collaborative manufacturing enterprises. Studying how different types of entities (customers, service companies, manufacturing enterprises) participate actively in the collaborative activities of service-oriented manufacturing networks through mutual value perception, it aims to build a service-oriented collaborative manufacturing system with dynamic stability structure. It also tries to deepen its understanding of the essence of product oriented to service oriented transformation advocated by GE and IBM and apply it to the service field of collaborative manufacturing systems such as high-end equipment industry and large aircraft manufacturing industry, etc. in Shanghai.
2) Transportation service system management
The research focuses on integration of intelligent transportation systems and transportation network evolution with land use, including
Emergency traffic resource allocation and scheduling optimization under car network environment in mega-cities;
Multi-mode collaborative emergency rescue and traffic evacuation issues in mega-cities;
Integrated system of emergency rescue traffic management and control in mega-cities;
Dynamic calculation experimental system of urban traffic big data;
Intelligent traffic guidance system and driving behavior test platform;
Urban traffic index prediction and real-time release for urban traffic congestion alleviation;
Regional transportation network evolution law, land use integration theory and technology innovation.
So far, this research has already taken the lead in the global peers in terms of the number of papers published and cited (confirmed by the international search of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University think tank under Shanghai Education Commission). It expects to further consolidate and boost its leading position with the publication of higher level ESI papers, holding and applying more invention patents and help build China-Canada Joint Transportation Research Center into one of the most influential transportation research centers in the world as well.
3) E-commerce service system management
To turn the E-Commerce Development Research Institute into a provincial-level and even national-level e-commerce research think tank or research base, it focuses on the fields of e-commerce development forecasting, strategy and policy, e-commerce laws and regulations and standards, and e-commerce model innovation to conduct research and consulting services, including:
Firstly, focusing on the core issues like e-commerce consumer price index, China's urban e-commerce development competitiveness index, China and Shanghai e-commerce development forecast, e-commerce development strategy and policy, it conducts its research on e-commerce development forecasting, strategy and policy for the State Council, Ministries and Shanghai Municipal Government.
Secondly, revolving around Cross-Border E-Commerce Dispute Resolution Rules of the United Nations and Electronic commerce law of the National People's Congress, it is actively doing research on e-commerce laws, regulations and standards, drafting the relevant documents for the United Nations, the National People’s Congress, the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Council, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Shanghai Municipality.
Thirdly, centering on mobile Internet, cross-border e-commerce, traditional industry transformation, and e-commerce in big data environment, it undertakes research on e-commerce innovation for enterprises and industries.
Fourthly, it conducts research on the construction and application of Shanghai e-commerce development database for Shanghai e-commerce development strategy and decision-making.
4) System Management Theory and Method
Integrating the specific system environment of the other three directions, it focuses on studying the system management mechanism, system and related mathematical models under asymmetric information conditions, mainly including behavior control mechanisms and applications under various specific conditions such as the mathematical model of the mechanism, the design of the management system, the equilibrium of profit-making behavior, influence of the number of people in the group on the equilibrium point. The recently research mainly covers three aspects:
(1) Engineering design methods of management systems. Based on the analysis of rational behavior such as game theory, and by using engineering design such as symbolization and structuring as a tool, it focuses on the effective management of the system. The research content can provide methods and tools for almost all management systems (because of the human factor), and has a wide range of applications, for instance, enterprise system governance design, solutions design for loopholes in the system of project bidding, resource sharing mechanism design, etc. The application achievement in this field has won the second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
(2) Guidance and management of bounded rational behavior (i.e. the combination of rational behavior and irrational behavior) in the system. Based on the statistical characteristics of individual behavior in the system, it aims to conduct effective management of the target group through the establishment of simulation tools and mathematical models.
The research content involves many application fields, such as the rules of customer behavior in e-commerce, the path selection and congestion regulations of transportation, the alliance game and the formulation of league game and contracts in the supply chain.
(3) Behavioral operation and optimization. It has changed the situation in traditional operations research that focuses on things instead of people. Take for example, resource scheduling, service time and waiting time, major nodes in various network optimization, and system evaluation issues, all the issues above concern people’s perceptions of efficiency and people’s adjustment of behavior. It focuses on mathematical model, supplemented by the corresponding experiments. It is often necessary to add some parameters reflecting the behavioral law in the traditional optimization model.
