The Final of Student Lecturer Invitational Tournament Held

On the afternoon of June 3, the final of the “New Era, Newer China” student lecturer invitational tournament among universities in the Yangtze River Delta was held in the school auditorium. Seven student lecturer teams competed for lecturer seats by means of guiding and enlightening students with their professional knowledge, real stories and vivid use of language.

At the final, Wu Jianyong, the Secretary of the Party Committee of USST, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that by focusing on the education of the whole staff, USST gives full play to ideological and political teachers, professional teachers, management personnel, logistical service personnel, democratic parties, and builds a new platform for moral education to strengthen resultant educational power. The “New Era, Newer China” student lecturer competition conveys feelings for home and country, scientific creativity, humanistic spirit and a sense of responsibility in the development of the subjects and majors for students, forming a new pattern of moral education, which is an important innovation and a vibrant practice for the concept of “Three Full Education”.

Yu Lijuan, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Municipal Education and Health Work, delivered a speech. She pointed out that: faced with new goals and the call of the times, young students have to combine knowledge with practice, sharpen their skills, hold firm beliefs, making themselves trained and improved in the responsibility for this era. Yu emphasized that all universities in Shanghai City, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province and Anhui Province should work together to cultivate full-grown talent in: morality, wisdom, fitness & physique and aesthetics, and build a new educational pillar by strengthening practical collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance & innovation, and affairs of international exchange.

Centering on the themes of: “Medical Instrument in Newer China”, “Hold Four Beliefs, Draw Legendary Chapter”, “Trade in China”, “Lighten the Green Future, to be a Dreamer in the New Era”, “Show Ambitions and Build Dreams in the New Era”, “Forge Oneself with the Pure Heart”,  and “Transportation in China” the 7 teams from USST, Donghua University (DHU), Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE), Nanjing Tech University (NanjingTech), Zhejing University of Technology (ZJUT), Anhui University of Technology (AHUT) and Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) delivered vivid reports by combing their professional knowledge with specific practices. They found beauty in professional values, drew upon the evolution in professional development, revealed great achievements brought to the era in professional contributions. After the fierce competition, the lecturer teams from USST, SUES and Nanjing Tech won the first prize. The lecturer teams from AHUT, DHU, ZJUT and SUIBE won the second prize. The DHU lecturer team was appraised as the best popular team through a network voting system.

The invitations to the first “New Era, Newer China” student lecturer invitational tournament was sent to universities in the Yangtze River Delta in April of this year, and then it received many replies and strong support from students. Altogether 57 students in 13 teams from 7 universities joined in the competition. During preparation for the competition, a shared community was constructed by: student lecturers, professional teachers, ideological and political teachers and instructors. They tried their best in: concept design, topic setting, information collection, forms of expression, team work and trail lectures. Thorough targeted guidance and cooperative work, and different majors and moral educational backgrounds have been well integrated, which drives the “Three Full Education” in an innovative way. Some student lecturer teams will be organized into primary schools, middle schools and the community, to convey deep love, strong ambition and hard work for China to all people, which encourages them to share responsibilities and pursue dreams while they work for a great rejuvenation of China.
