USST and HUAWEI Signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement

On June 25, with the purpose of making more contributions to national and local development, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology （USST）and Huawei Technologies signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement. On the principles of long-term cooperation, mutual benefits, mutual consultation on equal status, and a win-win partnership, both parties promise to make long-term and concerted efforts in the cultivation of talent, scientific research and smart campus construction.
Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Zheng Baoyong, Senior Vice President of Huawei Technologies, Mr. Hao Guoqiang, General Manager of Huawei Shanghai Institution Business Department, Mr. Qi Ji, Deputy Director of Sales Division of Huawei Shanghai Institution Business Department, Mr. Ding Xiaodong, President of USST, Mr. Zhuang Songlin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering （CAE）, and Mr. Liu Ping Vice President of USST. Mr. Liu Ping presided over the signing ceremony.

President Ding gave a welcome speech. He introduced the history of USST and its tradition in engineering education to the guests. He pointed out that USST has been playing an active role in serving national and local development strategies, such as making Shanghai a global innovation center in science and technology. Thus, USST has been making efforts to seize opportunities to meet the demands of engineering education in a new era, and has been focusing on the latest developments in sociology, economics, engineering etc. He pointed out that we have made breakthroughs in the integration of medical science and engineering, artificial intelligence and in other fields. President Ding also pointed out that USST has boasted a tradition of integrating industrial development with education and research, and vigorously promoted the strategic cooperation between USST and leading enterprises in the process of constructing USST as a high-level university. He hoped that the two sides could take this strategic cooperation as an opportunity to achieve mutual development and better innovate through joint efforts.

Mr. Zheng Baoyong briefed USST administrators on the history of Huawei, and its latest accomplishments in: communications network, intelligent terminals, cloud services, and other fields of scientific research. He expressed his sincere hopes that both parties could tap their unique strengths in talent cultivation, scientific research and technology transfers. He also hoped that both parties could boost momentum of mutual development and research in edge-cutting science and technology by making contributions to the better integration of enterprise recruitment and university education and practices of technology transfers.

Vice President Liu presented the guests an overview of USST and its latest developments in the construction of USST as a high-level university. Mr. Hao promised in his speech that Huawei would make full use of its resources and do its best to make the cooperation a success by better preparations, persistent efforts and detailed planning.

On behalf of both sides, Mr. Hao Guoqiang, and Mr. Liu Ping signed the cooperation agreement.

Before the signing ceremony, Mr. Zheng Baoyong visited the Future Optics International Laboratory and Machine Intelligence Research Institute and was briefed on relevant research projects.

According to the agreement, the two sides will work together to further enhance capabilities in the innovation of science and technology and cultivate high-quality talents by carrying out full cooperation in the fields of the ICT Industrial College, medical and engineering intersection, smart campus and network big data analysis.
