The 14th China Graduate Electronics Design Contest (Shanghai Division) Held in Our School

The 14th "Arm Cup" China Graduate Electronics Design Contest (Shanghai Division) was held at University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) from July 12th to 14th of 2019. The opening ceremony was attended by members of the organizing committee, leaders and experts of trade associations, professional societies, enterprises and institutions, and representatives of participating students from Shanghai universities.
Liu Ping, Vice President of USST, said in the opening speech that hosting the 14th China Graduate Electronics Design Contest in Shanghai is an excellent learning opportunity for teachers and students of our school and this contest is also a grand gathering of all the forces of the school and enterprise. Our school takes the contest as an opportunity to: educate teachers and students, strengthen practice, deepen the ideas of education and teaching reform, further integrate scientific research and innovation education into all aspects of personnel training and the whole process, giving full play to the characteristics of the discipline and excavating students’ abilities of scientific research and innovation. We make unremitting efforts to cultivate innovative, international and high-quality engineering talents who have a  solid foundation and aundant practice.

More than 1,000 students from nearly 20 colleges and universities in Shanghai participated in the competition with more than 250 presenting the latest in electronic design works. In the end, 52 first prizes were given, 87 second prizes were given and 83 third prizes were given for the technical competition. The top 28 teams were successfully promoted to the national finals. At 9:00 on July 14th, the “Arm Cup” Contest Awards Ceremony (Shanghai Division) was successfully held. Prof. Liu Yiqing, Secretary General of the Shanghai Division of the China Graduate Electronics Design Contest, read the review resolution. In the meantime, the First Prize of the Shanghai Division, the Special Contribution Award of the Enterprise, the Contribution Award of the Enterprise, as well as the Winning Prize, the Award of Excellent Instructor and the Outstanding Organization Awards of the “core fire” plan were all announced in turn.

The China Graduate Electronics Design Contest is the highest level and broadest-ranged of the symbolic competitions in the China Graduate Innovation Practice Series Competition. The competition was jointly sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and Tsinghua University in 1996, and it has been successfully held for the thirteenth time. The China Graduate Electronics Design Contest (Shanghai Division) is hosted by the Ministry of Education's Degree and Graduate Education Development Center, the China Children and Youth Science and Technology Center and the China Electronics Society. It has received strong support from the Shanghai Academic Degrees Office and the Shanghai Student Affairs Center. Since 2017, it has been included in the index system for non-Shanghai students who have graduated from Shanghai so as to have access to work in Shanghai. The Contest was supported by the Shanghai Institute of Electronics, the Shanghai Institute of Technology, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Education Development Foundation. The contest received participation of nearly 50 units for postgraduate training and trained tens of thousands of postgraduate students. It also gained strong support from government departments, industry associations, professional societies and enterprises. At the same time, the Shanghai Division has had extensive cooperation with more than 30 companies and industries, forming a competition for production, learning, research, use, and competition. It has brought extensive and good effects on universities and even society. During the competition, the 14th China Graduate Electronics Design Contest, i.e. the Supply and Demand of Graduate in Electronic Industry Meeting was held smoothly, attracting 36 companies like: Huawei, ZTE, COMAC, Shanghai Electric, etc.

Coinciding with the period of opportunity for the construction of the high-level University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the 14th "Zhaoyi Innovation Cup" China Graduate Electronics Design Contest i.e."Arm Cup" Shanghai Competition was successfully held. It also promotes the reform and innovation of postgraduate training mode for information and electronics, and fosters an innovative spirit, research and system realization abilities and teamwork fostering the cooperative spirit of postgraduates, which is of great significance to improve the engineering practice ability of graduate students.
