Our School Holds the 6th Shanghai Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Exhibition

On September 21st, the 6th Shanghai Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Exhibition was held at USST.

The Shanghai Student Entrepreneurship and Innovation Training Exhibition was aimed at displaying results of the training, sharing the experience in educational reform of entrepreneurship, reflecting students’ character of hard work and unremitting exploration. This exhibition collected 93 reports about students’ innovative program, 50 reports about students’ entrepreneurship program, 137 works about students’ innovative and entrepreneurship programs and 105 teachers’ papers. After a series of evaluation, votes from representatives of teachers and students, oral defense for programs and experts’ evaluation, 25 projects in best popularity, 17 reports in best innovation, 8 reports about best entrepreneurship programs and 10 best teacher’s papers were selected.

At the closing ceremony, Wu Jianyong, the Secretary of Party Committee of USST extended a warm welcome to honorable guests, teachers and students present at the entrepreneurship exhibition. He pointed out that USST attached importance to entrepreneurship education, and regarded it as an important way to the construction of high-level university and cultivation of innovative talents. It has become a feature of USST. He introduced reform measures and practical experience of deepening entrepreneurship education in the following three aspects— “ optimize top-level design, condense disciplinary features, explore new patterns of cultivating innovative talents” “Take innovation and entrepreneurship as a bond to integrate such education into the whole process of talents cultivation” “promote learning by competition, promote education by competition, explore new ways of education for innovation and entrepreneurship.” Finally, he issued calls to teachers and students: “let us, hand in hand, seize the new round of historical opportunities of scientific and technological reform to integrate innovation and entrepreneurship education into talents cultivation and youth, entrepreneurship dream into the Chinese Dream— the great rejuvenation of China.”

According to Sang Biao, the Dean of Shanghai Academy of Educational Sciences and the Director of Higher Education of Shanghai Education Commission, the Shanghai Education Commission paid attention to the cultivation of innovative capability of students. Faced with opportunities and challenges in a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform, all universities should implement China’ s Education Modernization 2035, continue deepening the educational reform of entrepreneurship, take solid steps to advance entrepreneurship education and cultivation of innovative talents, to be a pathfinder of national education reform. He hoped that all universities would continue fostering the soil of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”, strengthening the upgrading of “mass entrepreneurship and innovation”. At the same time, all universities should unremittingly work hard for building an innovative country, creating a new high platform for global scientific and technological innovation, cultivating innovative and entrepreneurship talents and achieving more pioneering innovative results.

Prof. Gu Min from OECE (School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering) delivered a speech titled Innovation and Influence of Scientific Research. Based on the experience in teaching and research innovation and an example of his supervising students, he took a vivid education demonstration class about innovation and entrepreneurship for representatives of teachers and students present at the lecture and gave them a lot of help. Prof. Gu noted that the key to entrepreneurship success is research innovation from “zero” to “one”. The patents protection should be paid attention to, and be coupled with industry. The influence of training results should also be promoted for pushing ahead social progress.
