A Salute to the Year 2020-- New Year Reception Meeting Held

On the afternoon of December 31, 2020, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) held a grand reception to review the past efforts and pay tribute to all faculty and students who have made outstanding contributions in 2020, and wish all USST-ers around the world a happy New Year. The reception was broadcast to all the faculty, students and alumni at home and abroad.

Present at the reception are model individuals for epidemic prevention, teachers of the Year, nationally honored researchers, contestants in world games, winners in national competitions, and Western volunteers. They took the initiative, fulfilled their mission with dedication, and demonstrated the tenacity and passion of USSTers. One of the model faculty members Professor Li Wei, from the School of Materials Science, was committed to tackling technological difficulties in serving urgent clinical needs; Li Changlin, chief of the on-campus Health Section, was on duty for nine consecutive days and nights during the Spring Festival to safeguard the health of teachers and students. During the reception, Li Chuang, from the School of Environment and Architecture shared his story of how to better serve the country, anh helop more people in need; Ding Sitong from the School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering, shared her story of how to be a young trailblazer through unremitting efforts in scientific research.

As shown in the video clip entitled "A Salute to the Year 2020", all faculty and students were undaunted and fearless when facing the sudden outbreak of the epidemic. Under the strong leadership of the school party committee, they worked hard with concerted efforts to overcome challenges and achieve a number of breakthroughs. President Ding Xiaodong pointed out in his speech that the beginning of 2020 witnessed some challenges. However, USST-ers have braved forward, achieved a "win-win result" in epidemic prevention and control and development of the school, and embraces joys of a bumper harvest due to the hard work of faculty and students. All the staff of USST should be appreciated, and everyone can work together to achieve a prosperous and even brighter future.

Wu Jianyong, secretary of USST Party Committee, led all school leaders to extend sincere gratitude and New Year's wishes to all USST-ers, and together whoped that USST would make greater achievements. Over 38,000 people watched the live stream of the event via Internet.
