On the afternoon of Jan, 14th, the unveiling ceremony of “Joint Innovation and Application Laboratory of Tera-hertz Technology Ecology and Environment” established by University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST), Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences, and Tera Aurora Electro-optics Technology Co., Ltd was held at Room 1042 of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering (OECE). Cai Yonglian, vice president of USST, Zhuang Songlin, dean of OECE, Shi Min, director of Science Department of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, Jiang Changmin, secretary of Party Committee of Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences, Zhang Xinliang, deputy dean of Shanghai Academy of Environmental Sciences, Yu Renyan, vice manager-general of Tera Aurora Electro-optics Technology Co., Ltd attended the ceremony. Other people present were Li Chuan, director of Division of Planning and Construction, Situ Weier, deputy director of USST Institute of Science and Technology Development, and faculty and student representatives.
Cai Yonglian extended warm welcome to all guests present, and highly recognized the meaning of triangular cooperation. She pointed out that the establishment of joint laboratory represents an important part of high-level university construction and expected to deliver more achievements through triangular cooperation. Academician Zhuang reported to all the discipline features of School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering and achievements in Tera-hertz technology, and thought the establishment of joint laboratory was expected to fill the gap of scientific achievements in ecological environment. Shi Min gave thumb up to the scientific achievements and platform construction, and encouraged them to promote the development of ecological business through industry-learning-research cooperation. Jiang Changmin believed that the joint laboratory means a fine beginning for the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Under the circumstances that China builds itself into a Beautiful country and Shanghai ushers in a yearning ecological city, USST applied tera-hertz technology to environmental protection and promoted the development of ecological business by developing environmental science products.
Afterwards, professor Chen Lin from OECE addressed a report on “application of tera-hertz technology in ecology and environment detection”. All guests present carried out thematic exchange meetings and paid a visit to tera-hertz laboratory.
