USST Attaches Great Importance to the Work of the Institute of Public Diplomacy

On May 8th, Wu Jianyong, secretary of the USST Party Committee and director of Shanghai Academy of Public Diplomacy and his party visited the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University. Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, Hu Lingyuan, Director of the Center for Japanese Studies at Fudan University, and Jian Junbo, Deputy Director of the Center for China-EU Relations at Fudan University, took part in the talk. The two sides discussed and exchanged their views on how to carry out in-depth cooperation. According to the outcomes of the exchange, the two sides reached consensus on the establishment of an institutionalized personnel exchange model and the joint conduction of a series of scientific research work.

On May 11th, Professor Liu Hongwu, the founding dean of the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University, Changjiang Scholar and Specially-appointed Professor of the Ministry of Education, as well as Member of the Steering Committee of China-Africa Joint Research and Exchange Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited USST to conduct academic exchange on public diplomacy. Wu Jianyong met with Professor Liu Hongwu, and presented an appointment nameplate to Liu as a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Shanghai Academy of Public Diplomacy on behalf of Zhou Hanmin, Chairman of the Board of the Shanghai Academy of Public Diplomacy. Wu also expressed his hope that Liu Hongwu could guide the teachers and students of the Institute to engage in public diplomacy work in Africa, and cultivate talents in the field of public diplomacy based on the advantages of our school in manufacturing industry.
