USST Holds 2021 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony

On the morning of June 25th, the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Commencement and Degree Conferral 2021 was held in the auditorium on the Jungong Rd. campus. Was the simultaneous mode of the main venue and sub-venue. Also, the cloud-live-streaming was adopted for the ceremony. The main venue was set in the auditorium while the sub-venue was set in other venues at other schools and colleges.

Before the ceremony, graduation memorial documentary called “Xia Ke” was broadcast live, keeping record of the innocence and expectation of graduates when they first came into the USST campus, demonstrating their confidence and reluctance during the graduation season.

At every corner of the campus were left the footprints when they strive ahead, graduates’ representatives shared growth stories and fondest memories of the youth.
Ha Buri, president of the 22nd School Graduates’ Union and graduating masters from Business School, spoke at the stage. She said at the crossroads, whatever they chose, they could demonstrate students’ original aspiration and sincere pursuits, marching towards their dreams.
Li Yi from School of Mechanical Engineering shared with us his growth along with USST, and expressed gratitude to teachers and students.
On behalf of all teachers, Professor Peng Yan from School of Optical-electrical and Computer Engineering addressed a speech. She highly praised that students worked hard and pursued their dreams. She also hoped that graduating students would constantly strive to become stronger and more thankful.
Lin Jianhua, president of Shanghai Dijiang Group, alumni of School of Environment and Architecture sent a letter to junior male and female schoolmates, encouraged them to accept losses, shoulder the responsibility, stay true to the original aspiration, and remain resolute and grateful to society. While creating a wonderful life, each one should never forget what USST has given.
Accompanied by claps, the degree conferral ceremony started. Graduates of 2021 walked onto the rostrum in turn and solemnly received their diplomas and degrees from the leaders and turned their tassels.
Ding Xiaodong addressed a speech titled “embrace ‘Ocean of Stars’ in the Integration Era”. At the moment when graduates are embarking on a new journey, President Ding put forward four ideas: one should venture forth into new unknown world; one should arm themselves, cope with real problems with digital thinking and technique; one should put the past and the present together, absorb the wisdom and strength from the history, and convert themselves into the practice of original aspiration and mission, and continue to go ahead. At the end of his speech, President Ding wished all students happy graduation and a bright future. And he hoped that each student could step into the new era with an open, inclusive and innovative mind.

The commencement ended up with the graduation songs. Academician and school leaders say goodbye to graduate representative, letting their laughter echo in the auditorium.
