In June, the warmth and gentleness of spring has gone, and the scorching heat is coming. All USSTers remain highly spirited before summer vacation.
Here is the voice of USST in June!
The 2021 undergraduate and graduate students had finished their education in USST, and then they would embark on a new journey after leaving Hujiang Park.
After more than a year, the former residence of the martyr Liu zhanen, built by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, reopened on June 26, which artistically interprets the stories of generations of people from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and encourages new generations of USSTers to embark on a new journey. USST held the third Shanghai International Young Scholars Forum and Shanghai University League’s Forum for International Young Scholars. USST will put all efforts into the construction of an academic exchange platform, and actively push ahead the multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary development. The official establishment of School Administration Committee has become a pivotal measure in the reform and development of USST, and it can provide wisdom and strength for the development of USST. President Ding present at Pujiang Forum and delivered a keynote speech titled “take on the mission of sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening, push ahead the innovation in sci-tech institution and system”
Teachers of USST have successively made high-level scientific research achievements. Academician Gu Min’s team publishes high quality paper in Nature Nanotechnology with the cooperation of scholars inside and outside China, and having developed a new kind of luminescent lanthanide nanoprobe that can be used in super-resolution imaging for low-power STED microscopy of subcellular structures and deep tissues. To serve national needs, the BMS Team from School of Mechanical Engineering is committed to solution to the scientific problems about utilization of wasted Li-ion batteries, achieving key breakthroughs in related technologies, and made achievements in paper publishing, program and patent application. Dr. Zhang Zhiguo, a young teacher from School of Environment and Architecture published a series of high-level papers in top international journals. Students in USST successively win prizes in various high-level academic competitions. The works of the Department of Animation won great achievements in the Second China Animation & Comic Art Exhibition. SBC RoboVigor team Won First Prize of RoboMaster University Technical Challenge (RMUT) 2021 and was qualified into National Final. USSTers won 52 prizes in the 12th "Blue Bridge Cup" National Software and Information Technology Competition, and won “aggressive award” in the final of 2021 Guangming Cup 19th China MBA Entrepreneurship Competition (East and Middle Region).

☆USST Holds 2021 Commencement and Degree Conferral Ceremony☆
On the morning of June 25th, the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology Commencement and Degree Conferral 2021 was held in the auditorium on the Jungong Rd. campus. Was the simultaneous mode of the main venue and sub-venue. Also, the cloud-live-streaming was adopted for the ceremony. The main venue was set in the auditorium while the sub-venue was set in other venues at other schools and colleges.
Ding Xiaodong addressed a speech titled “embrace ‘Ocean of Stars’ in the Integration Era”. At the moment when graduates are embarking on a new journey, President Ding put forward four ideas: one should venture forth into new unknown world; one should arm themselves, cope with real problems with digital thinking and technique; one should put the past and the present together, absorb the wisdom and strength from the history, and convert themselves into the practice of original aspiration and mission, and continue to go ahead. At the end of his speech, President Ding wished all students happy graduation and a bright future. And he hoped that each student could step into the new era with an open, inclusive and innovative mind.
☆The School Administration Committee of USST Established
On June 26th, USST held the Inaugural Meeting of the School Administration Committee and the first plenary meeting.
At the first plenary meeting of the first School Administration Committee, Academician Gu Min, executive chairman of School Administration Committee promised that he will continue to carry out the work and provide the wise supports for school’s development.
The School Administration Committee is an indispensable carrier for the construction of a modern university system and an important force in promoting the construction of a high-level university. The school is now proactively recognizing changes and adapting to changes, and making response to changes, accumulating potential to serve the country and local major strategies, and with the power of the School Administration Committee to continuously expand its horizons, USST broadens its thinking, condenses its school-running characteristics from a larger pattern and multi-dimensional perspectives, and conceives the future development strategy and major development measures of USST.

☆USST Holds Third Shanghai International Young Scholars Forum
On June 26th, the third Shanghai International Young Scholars Forum kicked off at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
In president Ding’s speech, he hoped that circling around the international academic frontier, young scholars have discussions over hot issues of the discipline and promote interdisciplinary development and academic innovation. Through this forum, USST would attract more outstanding talents with high ambitions, strong sense of responsibilities and reliable abilities, contributing to the prosperity of Shanghai and China.
☆President Ding Present at Pujiang Forum and Delivered a Speech
From June 5th to 6th, “2021 Pujiang Innovation Forum—National Universities Scientific Innovation and Achievements Transfer” was held at Shanghai. President Ding attended the forum and addressed a keynote speech. He pointed out that with the aim to build a first-class university of science and technology with distinctive features, guided by the running-school philosophy of cultivating outstanding engineering-driven talents, focusing on the industrial demands in integrated circuit, biomedicine and artificial intelligence, USST builds cross-disciplinary innovation center, promotes core technologies tackling, and establishes medical-engineering center, and artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacture innovation center.
☆USST Passesd the Expansion of China Engineering Education Majors
On the 10th of June, 2021, China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA) officially announced The Notice of Accreditation of 305 Majors like Mechanical Engineering of Zhejiang University. Process Equipment and Control Engineering and Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation of our university have passed the Professional Accreditation of China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA), valid for 6 years (from January 2021 to December 2026).
Engineering education accreditation is an important link to promote the reform of engineering education and the construction of quality assurance system in the institutions of higher education, an effective starting point to greatly promote the construction of “New Engineering Disciplines”, and also a significant manifestation of talent training in universities and colleges in line with the international standards.

☆Academician Gu Min’s Team Publishes High Quality Paper in Nature Nanotechnology with the Cooperation of Scholars Inside and Outside China
The results of international cooperation between the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology(USST), the National University of Singapore and Jinan University have overcome these limitations and developed a new kind of luminescent lanthanide nanoprobe that can be used in super-resolution imaging for low-power STED microscopy of subcellular structures and deep tissues. This result is titled “Continuous-wave Near-IR STED Microscopy using Downshifting Lanthanide Nanoparticles”, the achievement was published in Nature Nanotechnology on June 14.
☆Dr. Zhang Zhiguo Published high-level papers in International Top Journals
Recently, as the first author and correspondent author, Dr. Zhang Zhiguo from School of Environment and Architecture published an academic paper titled Mathematical modelling for ground consolidation settlements induced by lining leakage of shield tunnel under train loading in viscoelastic porous soils in international top journal Applied Mathematical Modeling in the filed of mathematics and engineering technology. The research wins supports from National University of Singapore, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University, Chengdu University of Technology and key laboratories of Ministry of Land and Resources of the People's Republic of China.
☆This is the Road CPC Passed through Translated into German Languages by Dr. Wang E’nuo
This is the Road CPC Passed through: from the First National Congress of CPC to the Second One translated by Dr. Wang E’nuo from College of Foreign Languages was published by Foreign Languages Press.
In 2019, Wang E’nuo was appointed as German translator of the book by China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. In December of 2020, after the first printing, it was well received by readers at home and abroad and then was printed at the second time in May of 2021.

☆Exhibition Hall of Martyr Liu Zhanen’s Former Residence Unveiled
Beside Zhanen Avenue of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, there is an old building with red bricks and white windows. Liu zhanen, the first Chinese President of University of Shanghai, a famous modern Chinese educator and patriot, once lived here for ten years. After more than a year, the former residence of the martyr Liu zhanen, built by the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, reopened on June 26.

☆USST Holds the 3rd Lecturer Competition for College Students for Party History Learning and Education
On the afternoon of June 2nd, the final of the 3rd "New Era, Newer China" lecturer competition for college students, especially for CPC history learning and education, was held in the auditorium of USST.
In the final, 10 teams from College of Science, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, College of Communication and Art Design， School of Marxism, School of Environment and Architecture and School of Mechanical Engineering, respectively told stories about advanced figures from different walks of life in different times, with vivid words and emotional languages for the students and teachers presented.
☆The Department of Animation Won Great Achievements in The Second China Animation & Comic Art Exhibition
On June 1st, the Second China Animation & Comic Art Exhibition was unveiled at Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai which is the highest-standard animation & comic art exhibition in China. Four works of art submitted by faculty and students from the Department of Animation of College of Communication and Art Design were listed, and three of them were also eligible for the membership of China Artists Association.
☆SBC RoboVigor team Won First Prize of RoboMaster University Technical Challenge (RMUT) 2021 and Qualified into National Final.
After a two-day fierce competition, RMUT 2021 has drawn to a close recently. SBC RoboVigor team won first prize and was qualified into the national final. RoboVigor outperformed other competitors with its standard in the “Standard Racing and Smart Firing” challenge.
Members of RoboVigor repeatedly adjusted their robot for the best during the challenges. They said that there were much to expect during the whole challenge, from exploration in the first place, to tension during the challenges and then the great joy when receiving the awards.
