On Jan 10th, Professor Ouyang Minggao, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, School of Vehicle and Mobility, paid a visit to our school and unveiled the nameplate of Joint Research Center of Whole Life Cycle Battery Management.
At the ceremony, USST President Ding Xiaodong extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Academician Ouyang Minggao. He briefly introduced the historical development of USST and its achievements in talents cultivation, innovations and entrepreneurship, high-level university construction in recent years. He pointed out that circling around the phrasal goals of the 14th Fifth Development Plan, USST is on its way to building itself into a university of Science and Technology with distinctive features with great strides.
Li Weidong, Dean of School of Mechanical Engineering introduced the history, disciplinary construction, professional talents cultivation, and had great expectation over the whole life cycle management technologies from design, manufacture, management to echelon use and recovery of batteries. Dr Hua Jianfeng, President of Ouyang Minggao Station, introduced the plan and measures of the whole technology chain and industrial chain of the station based on the power battery safety. He believed that the construction of joint research center is helpful to gathering innovative resources of technology, talents and platforms. Zeng Shizhe, Vice President of Shanghai NIO New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd, pointed out that as a vehicle company focusing on power exchange and users’ experience, the company will start with constant innovations to speed up the digital process of whole life cycle battery management.
Afterwards Academician Ouyang Minggao and Ding Xiaodong together unveiled the joint research center. Ding xiaodong presented the letter of appointment to Academician Ouyang Minggao as the head scientist of the joint research center.
Academician Ouyang pointed out that the technology featuring on intelligent battery and smart energy drives all-rounded, eruptive and subversive evolution of the new energy vehicles and relative industries. The construction of joint research center is right at the time when USST focus on major points and condense its features to build Joint Research Center of Whole Life-cycle Battery Management radiating the Yangtze River Delta regions, providing new opportunities for the integrated development of materials, energy, vehicles, mechanics, and electricity.
Wu Jianyong, Chair of University Council, USST, was grateful to thanks from Academician for the disciplinary development of USST. He pointed out that the joint research center is helpful to strengthen researchers’ exchange and innovative talents cultivation in all respects, meaningful in transforming and upgrading the major facing the new era. In the meanwhile, the construction of joint research center will further promote the concentration and optimization of disciplinary characteristics and provide new opportunities for the cross-disciplinary development.
Before the ceremony, accompanied by Sun Yuedong, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of USST, Academician Ouyang went to visit History Museum, and made high compliments on the historical development and campus culture with distinctive engineering characteristics.
