The Signing and Inauguration Ceremony of USST-UH International Joint Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis and Energy Treatment

On the morning of December 22nd, the signing and inauguration ceremony of USST-UH International Joint Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis and Energy Treatment was held simultaneously online and offline in the VIP hall on the second floor of the university auditorium. The Cuban side was attended by the Cuban Consul General in Shanghai Diaz, President Garcia and Executive Vice President Silva of the University of Havana, Party Secretary Wu Jianyong and Vice President Cai Yonglian of USST, and the directors of relevant departments and schools  such as Party and University Office, International Affairs Office, Scientific Research Institute, School of Health Sciences and Engineering, and School of Materials and Chemistry attended the event. The ceremony was hosted by Vice President Cai Yonglian.
Wu Jianyong firstly congratulated the success of the event and said in his speech that China and Cuba are good friends, good comrades and good brothers. The Chinese and Cuban heads of state met in November and jointly issued a joint statement, agreeing to build a community of destiny between China and Cuba and to promote the high-quality construction of "One Belt, One Road". USST attached great importance to international cooperation and exchange, and has established inter-university cooperation with more than 180 universities in more than 30 countries and regions around the world. The University of Havana is the oldest and largest university in Cuba, the oldest institution of higher education in Latin America and one of the first-founded universities in the America. University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) is an applied research university with 116 years of history in science and technology. In the past two years, the two universities have been deepening their exchanges and cooperation, and have achieved positive results in scientific research and technology transformation, and have jointly published several high-level papers. The joint laboratory inaugurated today is not only a continuation and deepening of the cooperation and exchange between the two universities, but also a vivid practice for the two universities to actively respond to the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and implement the important cooperation agreement reached by the Chinese and Cuban heads of state. USST will take this opportunity to promote in-depth cooperation with the University of Havana, and make efforts to contribute to the development of science and education and humanistic exchanges between the two countries.
In her speech, Ms. Diaz, Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai, mentioned that as Cuba and China celebrated the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2022, our diplomatic relations have become a model of relations between socialist countries, South-South cooperation and two countries based on equality and mutual respect, and the Consulate General of Cuba in Shanghai will continue to pay attention to and support the development of the joint laboratory.
The construction of the USST-UH International Joint Laboratory is also a tribute to the 295th anniversary of the University of Havana in Cuba. Professor Nicardo Garcia, President of the University of Havana, who was far away from Cuba, also sent a video greeting, saying that the University of Havana sends its sincere greetings to the leadership and colleagues of USST, and was very pleased to be able to hold the inauguration of the Joint Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis and Energy Treatment today, which will mark the deepening of the scientific and academic relationship between the University of Havana and USST.
Wu Jianyong and Silva jointly inaugurated the " USST-UH International Joint Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis and Energy Treatment", and Cai Yonglian and Silva signed the "Agreement of Cooperation between University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and University of Havana in Constructing the International Joint Laboratory for Tumor Diagnosis and Energy Treatment ".
