11 USST Research Achievements Honored with Awards for Science and Technology in Shanghai

On May 26th, the conference on 2022 Shanghai Science and Technology Award was held in order to award those science and technology workers who contribute to Shanghai scientific and technological innovation and socio-economic development. Among this year’s 316 scientific projects, 11 USST research achievements were honored with awards for science and technology in Shanghai. the projects led by USST won 7 second awards, and the projects involving USSTers won 1 first award as well as 3 second awards.
USST won 4 second awards of Shanghai Natural Science including Zang Xiaofei and his team’s project “the research on Terahertz wavefront control based on metasurface”, Prof. Huang Diangui and his team’s project “energy absorption and performance optimization of high-efficiency biomimetic wind energy (water flow energy) conversion device”, Prof. Zheng Shiyou and his team’s project “construction of Carbon-based Composite Electrode Materials with High Specific Capacity for Secondary Batteries by Multiple Coupling Effects and Their Regulatory Mechanisms”, Prof. Zheng Yuejiu and his team’s project “ principle and method of long-life grouping for lithiumlon batteries”, and 3 second awards of Shanghai technological inventions includes   Prof. Liu Hongbo and his team’s project “construction of resource-recycling ecological toilet and research and application of low-carbon key technologies”, Prof. Su Mingxu and his team’s project “advanced measurement technology and application of key parameters of multiphase flow”and Prof. Liu Baolin and his team’s project “key technologies and applications of intelligent deep cryogenic biological sample storage system”.
USST researchers also take part in some projects that are honored with several awards like the first award of Shanghai natural science for the Prof. Liu Yi’s project “research on air-laser driven by strong ultrafast light field”, the second award of Shanghai natural science for the Dr. Li Haiying’s project “estimation, optimization and security of random complex smart grid”with Shanghai University, the second awards of Shanghai scientific and technological progress for the Prof. Liu Ning and Dr. Zhang Xiaodong’s project “Key technologies and applications for comprehensive treatment and resource utilization of industrial high salt organic wastewater for pollution reduction and carbon reduction”with Shanghai University, and prof. Zhang Zhiguo’s project “Key technologies and applications for ensuring the safety of tunnel crossing sand layers under complex and sensitive environmental conditions”with Tongji University.
Outstanding achievements cannot be achieved without efforts of scientific researchers, reflecting high-level university construction of USST. In the coming days, based on national strategic demands, focusing on key fields, to promote original innovation, USST will stress the point “setting its sights on the global frontier of science and technology, national economic development, the major needs of the country, and the health and safety of the people”, strengthens innovation capacity, and improves overall scientific research level. USST continues to achieve a new breakthrough in major frontier research, fills the gap of innovative products, making a series of achievements of basic and application research, contributing the wisdom to Shanghai scientific and technological innovation center, striving forward to build USST into a university of science and technology with distinctive features.
