Record High! USST Granted 105 NSFC Projects,2023

Through careful preparation and close analysis during the summer vacation, the USST “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Team has achieved excellent results in the Shanghai Division of the 9th China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (High School Master Track, Red Travel Circuit). USST selected and sent a total of 29 projects to participate in the municipal rematch. After fierce competition, a total of 18 projects advanced to the municipal finals. In the final on July 26, 8 projects won the Shanghai Gold Award, ranking fourth among all universities in Shanghai. A total of 9 international projects entered the municipal finals. The participating teams overcame many disadvantages and won the gold medal in the final of the "Internet+" competition on August 25 and the third place in the Final Four competition, all of which achieved the best results in USST history.
Since the launch of the Competition in May, the Shanghai Division has attracted a total of 36 undergraduate universities and 32,156 projects. In the final, 32 universities, 189 projects and more than 300 participants completed the final road show on the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Since the launch of on-campus competition in March, with the strong support of USST’s various departments and colleges, a total of 1,286 teams and 5,577 students have been mobilized to participate in the domestic project. A total of 41 teams and more than 200 students have been mobilized to participate in international projects. The "Selection Organizing Committee" composed of the University office, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Graduate Work Department, the Students’ Union, the International Exchange Office and the National University Science and Technology Park carefully organized all links of the on-campus competition, adhered to the principle of "choose the best from the best", carried out multiple rounds of expert review, centralized training, defense road show and participation guidance, screened the participating projects layer by layer, and finally selected 29 domestic projects, and recommended 41 international projects to participate in the Shanghai rematch.
This competition has been highly valued by the USST’s main Party and Administration leaders. They have investigated and guided the preparation of the competition many times, and went to the competition site to encourage participating players to carefully prepare for the competition. Behind the achievements are the result of the unremitting efforts of the participating student team members, the result of the careful guidance of the instructor team, and the result of unity and cooperation between all university sectors. USST attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education, takes the high-level comprehensive competition as the starting point, further promotes the reform and innovation of talent training models, systems and mechanisms, integrates innovation and entrepreneurship education throughout the whole process of talent training and all links of education and teaching, strives to cultivate a double-creation culture of innovation factors competing with each other, and cultivate more innovative and entrepreneurial talents who are full of innovative spirit and have the courage to practice.
Next, the school selection competition organizing committee, project instructors and participants will continue to carefully optimize the project, actively prepare for the national finals of the 9th China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition held in October, and strive to achieve good results.
