From October 27th to 30th, the final round of the 18th "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition was held at Guizhou University. After going through various stages such as school-level competition, city-level competition, and national preliminary evaluation, the four works submitted by our school to the national competition were reviewed online, and three teams were qualified to the finals. In the three-day competition, each team utilized their professional advantages, carefully prepared for the oral defending, ultimately winning two first prizes in the national competition (including a first prize in the humanities project for the first time), one second prize, and one third prize. Meanwhile, the teams from USST also won numerous prizes in specific programs, thus achieving a breakthrough in the "Challenge Cup" competition.
It is reported that this year's "Challenge Cup" has a distinct educational theme, a complete competition structure. More than 2.5 million students from over 2000 universities across the country participated in the event, and over 4 hundred thousand works were presented. 690 works from 344 mainland universities and 9 universities in Hong Kong and Macao regions participated in the finals.
Numerous administration offices and departments of USST made concerted efforts in preparation for this competition. The preparation for the competition began as early as in November 2022. Our teams, striving for high-quality works and high standards for the competition, and deeply exploring projects that meet the professional characteristics of our university, invited excellent guidance teachers and senior experts both on and off campus to sharpen the skills of the team members. Before the finals, the teams have also made great effort to rehearse and practice. All along, the Youth League Committee of our school has been adhering to the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, sticking to the principle of promoting learning, teaching, and innovation through competitions, striving to enhance the innovation awareness. The Youth League Committee also have been working hard to boost the entrepreneurial spirit, and practical ability of the students, guiding and motivating them to become independent and innovative in research, and inspiring them to devote themselves to the mission of serving the country through science and technology.
The "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition is a national competition event jointly organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the All China Student Union, and local governments. It is known as the "Olympic" event for contemporary college students' technological innovation.
