The final of the 2024 China-US Youth Maker Competition (CUYMC) Shanghai Division took place on July 11 at Shanghai Silicon Alley, with presentations and judging, followed by an award ceremony on the afternoon of July 12. After two days of intense competition, SBC students stood out among nearly 200 young makers from prestigious universities including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Fudan University, and East China Normal University. They won one grand prize, two third prizes, and one excellence award in the Shanghai division. The team that won the grand prize will represent the Shanghai division in the national final of CUYMC in August. CAI Hui, Deputy Party Secretary and Associate Dean of SBC, was invited to attend the competition.
This year, 16 teams of nearly 80 SBC students have participated in the competition. Our students and faculty have been making active preparation since the competition began in May. The students demonstrated remarkable creativity and self-motivation, exploring fields such as artificial intelligence, social welfare, and environmental protection. From meticulously refining project concepts to rigorously testing technical implementations, every step was carried out with scientific precision and a pursuit of excellence.
At the same time, our instructors leveraged their professional expertise to provide comprehensive and in-depth guidance and support to the students. Through multiple rounds of discussions, revisions, and simulated exercises, each team significantly enhanced their collaborative abilities, and the quality of their projects saw a substantial improvement.
SBC will continue to uphold its overarching theme of "Enterprise and Innovation”, encouraging and supporting students to engage in more technological innovation activities. By fully utilizing the advantages of international education, the College aims to make further achievements of its innovation and entrepreneurship education.
