On the morning of August 8, at the invitation of Academician Dou Shixue and Academician Liu Huakun, Academician G. Q. Max Lu, fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, and his entourage visited our university to carry out academic exchanges with the Institute of Energy and Materials Science and to give an academic report.
President Zhu Xinyuan warmly met with Academician G. Q. Max Lu and his entourage at the Room 101 of the Yates Hall, expressed his warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to Academician Lu for carrying out academic exchanges and guiding the relevant academic work. He then introduced to Academician Lu the briefs of USST, the construction of relevant disciplines and specialties, academic activities and scientific research work. He Jianjia, deputy director of the Party Committee (President) Office, Su Mingxu, vice dean of the School of Energy and Power Engineering, and relevant persons in charge of the Institute of Energy and Materials Science attended the meeting.
President Zhu Xinyuan accompanied Academician Lu and his delegation to the Advanced Manufacturing Building to attend theHujiang Materials Science Lecture Hall, USST hosted by the Institute of Energy and Materials Science. Academician Lu gave a lecture entitled "Functional Nanomaterials for Green Hydrogen Production and Storage". The lecture was hosted by Professor Wu Chao, Vice Dean of the Institute of Energy and Materials Science, and nearly 7800 teachers and students from the Institute and related colleges attended the lecture online and offline.
Focusing on the way forward for future clean energy, Academician Lu introduced the latest research and development of functional nanomaterials for large-scale green hydrogen generation, storage and transport, and shared his experience on the transformation of key technological achievements and practical applications.
Afterwards, President Zhu Xinyuan presented an honorary medal to Academician Lu for his strong support to the Hujiang Materials Science Lecture Hall, USST.
After the lecture, accompanied by President Zhu Xinyuan, Academician Lu and his delegation also visited the laboratory of the Institute of Energy and Materials Science.
During this visit, the two sides reached a preliminary consensus on deepening strategic cooperation and made a preliminary top-level design on the framework of cooperation between the two sides. Both sides hope to establish a good university-level co-operation through academic exchanges, scientific research co-operation, student exchanges, etc., to promote the high-quality development of the two universities!
