USST Secures the Best in Special Contest of Challenge Cup

From November 15th to 17th, in the 19th “Challenge Cup” National College Student Competition of Shanghai University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works, USST team won the award in special contest due to the project “mini-sized robots intended for large power generation maintenance”, achieving a historic breakthrough. It’s reported that only three universities such as Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University and USST won the award.
Selecting the topic about power equipment development, the Underwater Robotics and Intelligent System Team, targeting at serving national strategy, and aiming to address problems of large power generation equipment internal surface defects causing huge economic losses, carried out application in Power Generation Maintenance Robotics. They successfully overcome difficulties in high-temperature environment, limited size, complex structure, load movement, fine defects and dim light, empowering high-quality development of intelligent manufacturing.
