USST, Fudan and Tongji Sign an Agreement to Jointly Construct a Sci-Tech Innovation Alliance

On December 3, 2024, the First Fudan 2024 Sci-Tech Innovation Investment Conference was held at Xianghui Hall, Fudan University. Attendees included XIE Dong, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai; QIU Xin, Party Secretary of Fudan University; JIN Li, President of Fudan University; WANG Ping, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Government; ZHOU Yaming, Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission; XU Zheng, Executive Vice President of Fudan University; ZHANG Hongtao, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization; LIN Wenjie, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Financial Regulatory Bureau; and CHEN Hongkai, Second-Level Inspector of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission.  
XIE Dong, QIU Xi, YUAN Guohua (Party Secretary and Chairman of Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd.), and SHEN Zhiqun (Vice President of the Investment Association of China and President of the Equity and Venture Investment Special Committee) delivered opening remarks respectively. USST Vice President ZHANG Zhong was invited to attend the event.
The alleged conference centered around the theme “Building the Top-tier Ecosystem for Sci-Tech Innovation Investment and Promoting High-Quality Commercialization of Sci-Tech Achievements,” with the aim to explore new models and new paths for the integration of sci-tech innovation and investment and to construct a high-level exchange platform involving government, enterprises, investment institutions, universities, and research organizations. Adhering to the principle of “openness, collaboration, and partnership,” the conference seeks to build up a cutting-edge ecosystem for sci-tech investment, guide capital to flow into sci-tech innovation, invest in small-sized, early-stage, and hard technology, form a virtuous cycle of mutual promotion between sci-tech innovation and industrial upgrading, help each other to solve difficult problems, co-construct cooperative platforms, realizing resource sharing, risk-sharing, and benefits sharing, and promote high-quality commercialization of sci-tech achievements.
Located in Yangpu District alongside Fudan and Tongji, USST has long been integrated into the “Three-Zone Linkage” strategy of Yangpu, which connects university campuses, technology parks, and public communities. Yangpu District has actively leveraged university resources to streamline innovation from inception to application, supporting the establishment of dual pathways for the acceleration of innovation from “zero to one” and “one to zero” and speeding up the cutting-edge discipline development with a focus on interdisciplinary integration. Efforts have also been made to support the construction of the “Basic Research Special Zone” at Fudan, Tongji, USST, and other institutions. By deepening the Three-Zone Linkage, the district fosters a positive feedback loop of original innovation, innovation transfer, and innovation application, and enabling the universities and research institutions to exert more and stronger overall spillover effects on regional development.
Marking the fifth anniversary of the concept of the “City for the People” initiative, USST has been actively participating in the Fudan-Tongji-USST Sci-Tech Innovation Alliance. By leveraging its talent advantages, research advantages, and industrialization advantages in engineering disciplines, USST is working together with Fudan and Tongji to accelerate the high-quality transformation and industrialization of sci-tech achievements to create the state-of-art sci-tech innovation ecosystem and support USST’s high-quality development and make its own due contribution to the vision of “the People’s City Built by the City’s People.”
