On November 30th, Shi Zhengrong, Academician of Australia Academy of Technology and Engineering, was appointed as honorary professor of USST and delivered a special academic report to “Gezhi” Innovation class.
At the ceremony, Gu Min, executive chairman of School Affairs Committee and dean of Institute of Photonic Chips gave brief introductions about professor Shi. President Ding Xiaodong extended a welcome and presented the certificate to professor Shi.
President Ding extended a warm welcome to the arrival of professor Shi. He pointed out that professor Shi has gained much experience in high-tech innovation and entrepreneurship area in hopes of winning the support from technological transfer, and strengthening the collaboration with IPC to implement the achievements transfer and application, driving the development of new-energy industry. He also hoped that professor Shi could provide students with new insight into outstanding achievements in new-energy area and spur more debates about new-energy technology and sustainable development.
Professor Shi delivered the report titled “Current Status and Prospects of Smart Energy Development in China” to students from “Gezhi” Innovation Class. He elaborates on the current domestic and international energy situation and danger, revealed the urgency and inevitability of energy transformation, and in detail gave introductions to the role of silicon-based energy represented by photovoltaic power generation in achieving the dual carbon goal, its potential application scenarios and future development are discussed.
Afterwards, the delegation led by professor Shi Zhengrong carried out exchanges with research teams of IPC, and had chats with possible collaboration. Accompanied by professor Gu Min, they together paid a visit to IPC laboratories.
