Recently, the Sino-British College of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was recommended the renewal of the Validated Programme status for its EAP programme by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL).
SBC first gained recognition from CIOL in 2023 and the award of Recognised Programme status for its English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Programme was swiftly followed by the award of Validated Programme status. At this first renewal, SBC has provided a thorough and reflective evaluation of the past year highlighting many positive developments in teacher quality, course contents, pedagogy, quality assurance system, assessment approach and more, as part of teaching reform for its EAP programme aligning with the high standard of CIOL RVC accreditation scheme.
CIOL RVC accreditation is open to universities or organisations in the field of languages (learning, assessment or training) that meet the criteria required for each level in curriculum structure, course contents, staff quality, pedagogy and learning outcomes. Each level requires prior achievement and compliance with earlier levels i.e. to have a programme certified, it must already be recognised and validated.
SBC-USST is committed to further improving the internationalisation in its education by gaining international accreditations to ensure the EAP programme continues to grow in strength and quality.
