USST has established long-term collaboration with COMAC and has achieved remarkable results in scientific research, interdisciplinary innovation and talent cultivation. Since 2018, He Dongfeng, Secretary of Party Committee of COMAC and Chairman of COMAC has carried out talks with USST‘s head leaders many times. Both sides have developed strong cooperative interest and together have tackled difficulties in Terahertz optical technology, distinctive research directions and technological application like system engineering and additive manufacturing. In 2019, USST worked together with the National Innovation Institution of Additive Manufacturing (NIIAM), COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Commercial Aircraft Engine Co. Ltd. (AECC), to build NIIAM Shanghai and Innovation Institution of Additive Manufacturing, Shanghai. They hoped to add fuel to the innovative development of China’s aviation industry through resource coordination of industry-university-research cooperation. The project on additive manufacturing technology research, which was undertaken by the Innovative Institution of Additive Manufacturing, Shanghai, has accomplished the research on material modeling technology and been implemented the industrialization. Aiming at solving the issue of high-risk sewage and gas, USST united the School of Environment and Architecture, the School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering, the College of Science and other related researchers, to establish an interdisciplinary research team, which has reached the optimum proposal of the Treatment Technology Laboratory. This proposal has made the recyclable use of high-risk sewage and gas at as low a cost as possible. They focus on technological problems like nondestructive tests of composites and also put forward a research proposal about interdisciplinary solutions.
