On June 11th, a signing ceremony for the cooperative education between USST and Huangpu District People’s Government was held, aiming to establish high schools with characteristics of new engineering cultivation—Chuneng School Affiliated to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (to be determined). Both sides will work together to initiate the early site of regional innovation and entrepreneurship talent, and build the New Engineering Education Center— Innovation Experiment Center integrating resources to expand this cooperative area for elementary education.
At the ceremony, Yao Xiaohong, Chief of Huangpu District Education Bureau gave introductions about the origin and contents of school-district cooperation in education. USST President Ding Xiaodong and Chao Kejian, Deputy Secretary of the CPC District Committee signed the cooperative educational agreement. Academician Gu Min and Li Yuan, Vice Chief unveiled the nameplate for USST-Chuneng New Engineering Innovation Laboratory.
Wu Jianyong, Secretary of Party Committee of USST was grateful for the support of the Shanghai Education Commission and Huangpu District. Wu pointed out that at this critical moment of a high-level university construction, USST has always focused on the strategy of serving the development of China. Facing a new round of scientific reform and industrial revolution, USST has endeavored to create a new interdisciplinary model, continuing to expand an industry-university platform, and bringing up new engineering talents for the future. By fully implementing the guiding principle of Li Qiang, Secretary of Shanghai CPC Committee, USST strives to make major breakthroughs in basic study and key technologies to better sustain and serve major industries. Wu noted that USST follows the agreement requirements, keeps deepening exchange and collaboration, and attracts various educational resources to Chuneng School for the construction of a new kind of moral education. At the same time, both sides can deepen school-district cooperation and promote the collaboration of talent cultivation, scientific achievements transfer and upgrading of industrial transformation, to achieve win-win results.

Gao Yun, Secretary of the CPC District Committee gave thanks for the care and support for Huangpu education from the Shanghai Education Commission and USST. Gao pointed out that cooperation with USST links new engineering education with elementary education, and builds new engineering courses which meet basic education requirements, reflect innovative education and integration of middle, high schools and universities. Gao noted that Huangpu District will give complete support and ensure their cooperation runs smoothly. The establishment of the Chuneng School Affiliated to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology will enrich Chuneng School and realize the integrated cultivation of innovative talent in diverse and characteristic growth.

Wang Ping, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Party Committee of Work on Education and Health, congratulated on the beginning of cooperative education between USST and Huangpu District. Wang Ping noted that the Shanghai Party Committee of Work on Education and Health, and the Shanghai Education Commission will provided continuous support to the development of USST and Huangpu District in education, and they should join their efforts to comprehensively push ahead for the cultivation of Shanghai innovation talent for new development in Shanghai education.
