On July 15, the 5th “CCB Cup” China Student “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Shanghai Division) was held at East China Normal University (ECNU). Present at the awarding ceremony were: Mao Lijuan (Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission) Sang Biao (Dean of Shanghai Academy of Education and Science) Zhang Hua (Director of the Higher Education Office), the Vice President of USST and many other experienced experts. The entrepreneurship teams from our school won: 2 Golden Prizes, 7 Silver Prizes, 6 Bronze Prizes, and the Best Popularity Award. USST ranked 5th among Shanghai universities in terms of Golden Prizes, and only second to: ECNU, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (STJU) and Tongji University. In addition, as the Best Popularity Project, the Golden Prize Project was named VAI1 innovation- the first global provider of the VR panoramic live scheme for 5G unmanned aerial vehicle and was shown at the ceremony. It was chaired by Li Han from our school.
This competition started in April of this year, and attracted more than 60 schools from Shanghai. Altogether more than 80,000 students with their over 20,000 projects joined in the competition. After preliminary selections in each school, 1500 students with 295 projects were then involved in the Higher Education Main Circuit and the Youth’s Red Dream-building Tour. At last, 36 teams shared: 30 Golden Prizes, 56 Silver Prizes, 152 Bronze Prizes, 57 Prizes for Excellence and 6 Special Prizes in the final competition in Shanghai.
Starting in March, USST, supported by all departments and faculties, held on-campus competitions in which 2900 students in 655 teams were involved. Guided by the principle of choosing the best, the Academic Affairs Office organized each round of on-campus competitions. After a series of on-campus competitions were processed including evaluation from experts, collective training, self-defense performance and competition guidance, 15 projects were selected for the repechage and final competition in Shanghai, which all won awards. Directed by Sun Yuedong, Xia Kun, Li Chenxue, Luo Wei and Li Han and his team members launched the project named VAI1 innovation- the first global provider of the VR panoramic live scheme for 5G unmanned aerial vehicle. It won the Golden Prize and the Best Popularity Award. Under the guidance of Zhao Jiayu, Xu Lin, Zhu Yiming, and Yu Haoyuan and his team members launched the project named Hawk-Eye Liquid Security Detector which is the last defense line for public safety. It also won the Golden Prize.
In recent years, by seizing the chance of building a high-level university, increasing national innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration in the university, our school has solidified the implementation of a plan. By educational reform, integrating on-campus and off-campus resources, and establishing open innovation and entrepreneurship education platforms to speed up the integration of professional education and innovation education, the integration of the industry, teaches teachers and students joint construction. Our school also focuses on strengthening the innovative and entrepreneurship spirits of students and provides an environment for students where more outstanding innovation and entrepreneurship talents can be cultivated. All supervisors and team members from our school are improving the projects for more excellent results in the National Final for the 5th China Student “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition which will be held in Zhejiang Province in October.
