Formal Graduation Ceremony Held at Shanghai-Hamburg College

Despite worldwide, Corona-related lockdowns, 49 students from Shanghai-Hamburg College (SHC) reached in July, 2020. The Bachelor's Double Degree is awarded to students from HAW Hamburg and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). During a formal graduation ceremony, this year's graduates of the engineering (manufacturing) programs with Test DaF and the International Economy and Foreign Trade with Test DaF were awarded the Bachelor's certificates and certificates are presented by HAW Hamburg and USST. The German professors of the SHC could not be personally present for the first time in the more than 30 years’ cooperation between the two universities, but sent their congratulations via video message to Shanghai.

The students had started their studies at Shanghai-Hamburg College as registered students at HAW Hamburg and USST in the winter semester, 2016. The first year of study was exclusively served to practice the German language. In the second and third year of study, the subject lectures were followed, two of which were taught in German by HAW teachers per semester. The fourth year of study, an internship semester included, adopted the best five of each course with a DAAD scholarship at companies such as Lufthansa Technik and Jungheinrich in Hamburg.
Just during the outbreak of the Corona Pandemic in Europe, most students were able to return to Shanghai to write their Bachelor's papers. After that, only the oral final exam should be passed in German and Chinese. "I prefer my hat to its performance," said German project manager Michael Roether in his video message for the testimony. "They have not only learned a new language in a very short time, but have also acquired the necessary expertise and intercultural skills to play an active role in strengthening German-Chinese economic relations." that at least one third of the SHC graduates seek a master's degree in Germany, while two thirds switch directly to the first professional activity in industry and commerce.
