On November 10th, the 3rd CIIE ended successfully. As the largest International import and export trade event covering the most participant countries, it was held from online to offline this year.

Altogether 110 USSTers were sent to serve for the CIIE, among which 80 regular volunteers were all in the catering service position.

The task of prevention and control of the pandemic was pressing for the CIIE. USST volunteers were accommodated outside the campus and put under the closed-off management when commuting from dorm to the exhibition hall. In addition to everyday online health reports, volunteers also wore smart temperature measuring bracelet, and could instantly report their body temperature by phone. All volunteers must be assigned to finish 3 nucleic testing for their health and their service work for the 3rd CIIE could be ensured.

Since the beginning of October 27th, 80 USST volunteers have begun to accept training orientation in batches. Supervisors introduced in detail something about the hall, exhibitor and important signs. By reading maps and investigating the venue, USST volunteers shaped themselves as living maps. On October 31th, to celebrate the 114th anniversary of USST, volunteers put up posters showing “I Love USST” at CIIE and sent blessings to USST.

On the evening of November 4th, the opening ceremony of the 3rd CIIE was held at Shanghai. Chairman Xi Jinping addressed a keynote speech by means of video recording. USST volunteers together listened to the speeches and felt greatly inspired. Gao Shengyan, a student majoring in instrumentation engineering said, “CIIE turn exhibits into products, exhibitors into investors, and link China and the world, making the world become a global village. Making up a community that shares woe and wealth, all countries joined their hands to face the pandemic, and devoted themselves to the CIIE in team work. Volunteers would make concerted efforts to make due contributions to the CIIE.”

This CIIE required USST volunteers to go in for catering service, information consultation and venue guidance. They needed to deal with the Big Data of people in 57 canteens.

Due to cancelation of this year’s Open Day Campaign, USST volunteers made full use of a short interval to realize the live contact between volunteers and students at campus, compensating for regrets of their absence at CIIE.

During the CIIE, Wu Jianyong, Secretary of Party Committee of USST, and President Ding Xiaodong greeted USST volunteers via video link, asking students to protect their health and try their best to finish various voluntary work, demonstrating the responsibilities and dedication of USSTers.
