USST Holds the Second Lecturer Qualification Competition

On December 4th, the final of the second Lecturer Qualification Competition on the theme of “New Age, newer China” was held in the school auditorium. 21 teams from 14 schools or colleges competed for 8 sets of lecturer seats.

At the final, Zhang Hua, vice president of USST, delivered a speech. He reviewed the procedure and achievements of the first Lecturer Qualification Competition and expressed hopes for young students: first, each one should improve professional skills, strengthen professional quality, and enhance professional capabilities based on their majors. Second, each one should acquire wisdom and strength from history, bravely shoulder the mission endowed by manufacture power, and manifest the USSTer’s responsibility for the new age; Third, each one should focus on the current trend, develop a global vision, and calibrate personal development for a brighter future.

Centering around different topics, 8 teams from the School of Marxism, School of Optical-electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, School of Energy and Power Engineering, College of Science, College of Communication and Art Design, Sino-British college and school of Environment and Architecture displayed the contributions their majors have made to the new era.

Enlightened by their professional knowledge, 8 teams narrated the development of professional fields from their historical perspective, and interpreted the firm belief, struggling spirits, devotion to the people and sense of responsibility in the development of their professions and industries.

“a group of  lecturers combine opaque topics and professional knowledge with latest social issues to express their concern about the people’s livelihood and the development of national key industries. Guided by teachers of their majors and political sciences and counselors, these lecturers have written their ‘papers’ reflecting changes in China, formulated designs on the beautiful countryside, and tackled key problems in the national sci-tech frontier,” said Niu Hai, deputy dean of School of Marxism.
After the fierce competition, the team of the School of Marxism, College of Science and School of Environment and Architecture won the first prizes, and the team of School of Optical-electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, School of Energy and Power Engineering, College of Communication and Art Design, Sino-British college won the second prizes. The team of School of Environment and Architecture won the best Popularity Award after online voting. The winners of the lecturers would approach the primary and secondary schools affiliated to University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in the next semester, and had an impact on the students there by sharing practical experiences, fresh deeds and vivid stories, and guided them to contribute to society, and the nation on the journey of pursuing individual dreams in the new era.
