USST Wins Another “Winners’ Cup” at the 17th “Challenge Cup” Competition

From May 8th to 9th, the final round of the 17th “Challenge Cup” of Shanghai University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition was held on the Lingang Campus of Shanghai University of Electric Power. After a selection within the university, USST submitted 14 works to participate in the intermediary heat. After a fierce competition, 7 teams entered the final round. During the two-day competition, each of our teams, well prepared, brought their own advantages into full play in displaying their works, and finally won 1 Special Award, 3 First Awards, 3 Second Awards and 5 Third Awards.

The USST Youth League Committee started the selection and cultivation of competitors for the Challenge Cup project since May 2020. Since the launch of the competition within the university, the USST Youth League Committee has published 6 issues of the Challenge Cup Competition Preparation Guide to help teachers and students know about the competition’s regulations, interpret the evaluation rules, and guide students to write the statements of their works; excellent instructors and senior judges were also invited to give face-to-face guidance to the participating teachers and students so that they could gradually improve competitive competence after several rounds of project selection and careful cultivation. Before the municipal competition, the Committee also organized the participating teams to drill many times, and provided professional help for each team.

The series of competitions of the “Challenge Cup” is a nationally leading, demonstrative and grassroots competition jointly sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, China Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, All-China Students Federation and local governments. It is known as the “Olympic” pageant of contemporary university students’ scientific and technological innovation. The municipal competition has come to an end. As the final round of the 17th “Challenge Cup” of National University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition  will be held in Sichuan University in the coming October, our project team will continue to work hard in order to enter the national competition final.
