President Ding Xiaodong pointed out in his concluding speech that the university should focus on two major goals, take problems as the orientation, and manage to think out a way to resolve the problems affecting the quality improvement of graduate education in the midst of difficulties and challenges.
He said that, first, with cultivating talents as the priority and cultivating virtue as the root, we should comprehensively conduct education from the five aspects of morality, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labour, guiding students to grow up healthily in an all-round way; second, with cultivating talents as the key and ensuring quality as the foundation, we should focus on the whole process of talent cultivation and think integrally about the differences and relevance of each collaborative unit; third, with supervisors as the base and teachers’ morality as the foundation, we should make sure that supervisors shoulder the "major responsibility" instead of "full responsibility." Supervisors should correct their own behaviors to set a good example to their students and construct an academic community of both teachers and students; fourth, we should enhance the efficiency of management, systematize our thoughts, cooperate comprehensively from the overall system and developing situation, and carry it out with a pragmatic attitude and solid style.
