Recently, the management center of China National Arts Fund (CNAF) and the National Office for Philosophy and Social Science(NOPSS) announced the “China National Art Fund (general projects) Funding Projects for 2020” and “National Social Science Fund of China Project List in Fine Arts for 2021” respectively. The design work “Boat on the East and Bamboo on the West” by Shi Bin, a young teacher of the College of Communication and Art Design, was awarded for subsidy by the China National Arts Fund in the category of “Arts and Crafts Creation”, the first time for USST to receive subsidy from CNAF, and the project “A Study on the Spatial Influence Elements of Integration of Culture and Tourism of Shanghai and its Optimization Strategy” by Zhang Danyin, a young teacher from the alleged college, was also approved for funding by the National Social Science Fund of China in the category of “Fine Arts”(general project) for the first time, a breakthrough for USST in this category.

In recent years, the College of Communication and Art Design has continued to refine its disciplinary features, connect the major strategic needs of the nation and the strategic positioning of Shanghai, and stimulate the potential and vitality of researchers by optimizing the organizational paradigms, building research platforms, integrating research teams, establishing a cultural and creative institute, and reforming the assessment and evaluation mechanism and so on, vigorously raising the research to a new level. In the past three years, the College has achieved several firsts of USST in major scientific research projects: the first provincial and ministerial level art research project in 2018, the first youth project in Fine Arts of the National Social Science Fund of China and the first key provincial and ministerial level project in Fine Arts in 2019.
