USST Hosts the 2nd Conference of the "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application

At the first anniversary of the "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance, the 2nd conference of "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application was successfully hosted at USST from November 16 to 18. With the theme "Make concerted innovative efforts, jointly safeguard the human health, and co-build the shared community of medical device", the conference appealed to hundreds of member representatives from 20 countries and regions of the "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance as well as 300 representatives of industry associations in this annual event.

Ding Xiaodong, Director of the Alliance and President of USST, said that the medical equipment industry has become one of the fastest ever-growing industries in the world, a focus of high-tech industry competition in the new era and an significant indicator of national scientific and technological progress. USST will continue to increase investment and support for the development of Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center, strengthen the cooperation with the member units of the Alliance in the field of high-end medical equipment technology, and enhance international exchanges and communication to jointly explore innovation in technology, product and model, which will promote the leap-forward development of industry.

Located at USST, Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center was established by 7 cooperative units including USST, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is the only manufacturing innovation center in the field of biomedicine in Shanghai. In order to further improve innovative system and build professional platforms, the center actively connects itself with member institutions of the "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance. During this conference, 10 strategic partnerships of three types were reached between Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center and 36 institutions, with a vision to launch relevant cooperation projects as soon as possible. On behalf of USST, Liu Ping, Vice President of USST, signed cooperation agreements with 16 overseas institutions of the Alliance.

During the conference, 9 innovative projects in 5 countries carried out project roadshows and released their products. The conference also set up an offline exhibition for "High-end Medical Device Innovation Project, Product and Enterprise", which attracted a total of 34 innovative enterprises from various sub-sectors at home and abroad. The exhibition also set up 9 theme exhibition areas, including medical robots, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular intervention, CDMO, electrophysiology and rehabilitation, innovation carrier, digital transformation, medical imaging, innovative enterprise/project and international exhibition.

The convening of the 2nd conference of the "Belt and Road" Medical Device Innovation and Application and the 2nd conference of International (Shanghai) High-end Medical Equipment Innovation marked the alliance’s adherence to the values of a community with a shared future and demonstrated alliance’s efforts to build Medical Device Innovation Subjects in countries along the “Belt and Road”, propel International High-end Medical Device Innovation and Application and jointly safeguard the human health, which indicated a new stage of sustainable and steady development of the alliance.
