USST Alumnus Ma Yushan Elected CAE Member

On November 18th, The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced their list of newly elected members. USST alumnus Ma Yushan, President of Wuzhong Instrument Co., Ltd has been honored as this year's newest member of CAE.

Ma Yushan has made outstanding contributions to the localization of major equipment such as petrochemical industry, metallurgy and power station in China through technical research in industrial automation instruments for many years. He has been engaged in the study of  ethylene catalytic cracking, coal chemical gasifier, black water, ash water and other devices. He has presided over the project funded by research and development of projects such as the National Development and Reform Commission and the national key Torch Plan, and won the honors such as the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Innovation Award, the second national scientific and technological  progress, the first scientific and technological progress award of provincial and ministerial level, and the first prize of science and technology progress of China Petroleum and Chemical Automation instrument Industry Association. He has 38 invention patents, and has published 3 monographs and 30 papers, and has been hailed as national outstanding science and technology workers, national young innovation and efficiency experts and national outstanding professional and technical talents. In 2015, he was selected into the National Talents Project and granted the special allowance of the State Council. On November 24, 2020, he was honored as one of the 2020 National Model workers. He was elected the CAE member in 2021.
