On November 25, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office held an exchange meeting activity for Chinese teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries.

This is just one of the series of cultural experiential activities for Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries. Earlier, on November 5, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office invited calligrapher Han Fangping to bring the “ink picking fun” calligraphy experiential activity to Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries. During the activity, Han Fangping explained the origin of hieroglyphics, the evolution of Chinese characters and their symbolic meanings. Through teaching, everyone could learn traditional and simplified calligraphy, distinguish calligraphy scripts, know about brushwork and property of brush pen. She also taught the students some basic knowledge about seal script, and helped each student complete a piece of calligraphy work. At this event, everyone learned that characters are the source of cultures and learning Chinese characters is a root-seeking journey. Chinese culture has been passed from one lineage to another. Only by going back to the roots of culture can we move forward to a rejuvenated future.

On November 19, the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office invited artist Zhang Yue to bring the “Autumn Chrysanthemums” ink painting experience activity to Chinese students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries. She expounded the properties of brush and ink and demonstrated the key points of painting chrysanthemum’s flowers, leaves and stems. At the end of the event, everyone completed a picture of autumn chrysanthemums by sketching under her guidance.
