On December 19th, USST held the ceremony of School of Health Sciences and Engineering. Seizing the chance of the institutional reform, the school speed the scientific and technological innovation, strengthen the competitiveness of the discipline of Biomedical Engineering and Food Science and Engineering, give full play to disciplinary advantages, enhance the industrial dock and collaboration, contributing more to the Healthy China Plan and Shanghai biomedical industrial development.
After the renaming ceremony, the academic forum on health industry was held. Wang Weiqi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Honorary Dean of School of Health Sciences and Engineering delivered a report titled “ On the intersection of biomedical engineering and clinical medicine”. Li Peiwu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a report titled “Edible Nutrition and Health”. At the parallel session, the second session of the second International (Shanghai) Advanced Medical Equipment Innovation Conference and 2021 international conference on Food Biotechnology and Precision Nutrition were respectively held.
The former name of School of Health Sciences and Engineering was School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, which was established in 2003.
