The Sino-British College of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology received a decision letter from The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) by the Academic Accreditation Committee on March 18th 2022. This is to certify that the IET has accredited BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering and BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering for a 5-year accreditation from 2021 intake to 2026 intake, as well as the two programmes for current students on campus from 2018 to 2020, the last intake to the programmes.
All the programmes provided by the School of Engineering and Computing of SBC for the CEng (Chartered Engineering) programmes are awarded IET accreditation, proving that SBC engineering programmes meet the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) as outlined by the Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP). IET Accreditation is recognized by Washington Accord and Sydney Accord and after accredited, SBC programmes will be eligible to apply for the EUR-ACE label.
Our graduates will benefit from a more straightforward process when applying for professional registration. It also helps improved graduate employability by linking to UK-SPEC, ensuring that our students have developed the appropriate skills and knowledge for an engineering career and professional registration.
The IET Accreditation is another great achievement SBC has made, USST has then become the first higher education with IET Accreditation in Shanghai. right after on the December 2021, AACSB Accreditation earned by the School of Business and Management. This international recognition will not be possible without the support from the relevant functional departments including the International Affairs Office (IAO) and Registry, other colleges of USST as well as the UK partner universities of SBC.
SBC will continue to build on its strengths in international education and the reform of engineering teaching, further improve engineering talent development and contribute itself to USST’s construction of being a first-class university of science and engineering with distinctive features.
