Shanghai Institute of Public Diplomacy (SIPD) and Shanghai People’s Publishing House (SPPH) have jointly made an active attempt to translate and publish the first set of translation books in China on public diplomacy recently to present the latest research results of foreign public diplomacy in multiple dimensions. The official publication of this series is one of the important achievements of SIPD in tapping advantages of all parties, strengthening diversified cooperation and working together to enhance the practical results of public diplomacy.
On August 16, 2022, the first two books of a series of translated works on public diplomacy, Public Diplomacy: Foundations for Global Engagement in the Digital Age, and City Diplomacy: Current Trends and Future Prospects were officially released, marking the completion of the theoretical and practical research on public diplomacy, thus will contribute to the development of public diplomacy. The book launch was jointly sponsored by SIPD and SPPH, and co-organized by China Vocational Education Association, Shanghai.
In a new era when the world in which profound changes unprecedented in a century meets an overall strategy of achieving great renaissance of the Chinese nation, the role of the diversified and effective public diplomacy is irreplaceable. It is the responsibility of Chinese public diplomacy research institutions and researchers to enhance the translation and research of overseas works on public diplomacy and to gain insight into relevant practices and theories of Europe and America. It is of great practical significance for SIPD to bring all parties together to complete this series of translation work in a good manner.
Heads and representatives of relevant institutions and organizations attended the book launch, such as those from Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences Associations, China Vocational Education Association, Shanghai, Shanghai People’s Publishing House, Shanghai Public Diplomacy Association, Shanghai Institute of Public Diplomacy, editorial board members, consultants and translators of the series and teachers of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology and so on.
