USST Holds the Fourth Hujiang International Young Scholars Forum

On Nov 19th, hosted by Shanghai Education Human Resource Exchange & Service Center and Shanghai Universities Talent Work Alliance, undertaken by USST (University of Shanghai for Science and Technology), the 4th Shanghai International Young Scholar Forum of Universities & Fourth Hujiang International Young Scholars Forum of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (Optical Engineering Field) was held  by adopting the hybrid form of the special report online and offline.
On behalf of USST, Sun Yuedong, deputy party secretary of CPC Committee, USST extend warm welcome to the distinguished guests and young scholars at home and abroad. He gave brief introductions about school’s historical origin, distribution pattern, talents introduction and cultivation, platform building and benefits & policies.
Academician Zhuang Songlin, dean of School of Optical-electrical and Computer Engineering highlighted the basic condition of OECE and its disciplines. He stressed that OECE holds on to the people-centered principle, creating favorable conditions for growth of teachers and students.. He hoped that the forum could help young scholars to develop their interest in frontier scientific research and innovation.
On behalf of young scholars, Ye Peng, a Ph. D student from Paris-Saclay University, delivered a speech. He expressed his love for the profound historical origin and bursting vitality, and the scientific platform and welfare guarantee established by OECE. He thought that young scholars should seize the opportunity, keep pace with the times and contribute their power to the development of the country.
The forum consists of one main forum and 9 sub-forums. The main forum invites prof. Zhou Aoying, vice president of ECNU, dean of graduate school and “AI+” research institute, prof. Zhou Lei, director of Physics Department of Fudan University , Francois Legare, Canadian National Academy of Sciences and director of National Laboratory of Advanced Laser Light Sources and Dr. Fang Xinyuan of Institute of Photonics Chip to deliver the keynote speeches and carried out talks with young scholars. Young scholars forum can be divided into one academician forum and nine sub-forums. The research areas at the sub-forums include Ultra-precision Optical Manufacturing, Terahertz Science and Technology, Photonics Chip Technology, Nanophotonics, Ultrafast Nonlinear Optics, Biophotonics as well as other interdisciplinary research areas including Control Science and Engineering, Testing and Information Engineering, Computer Science and Technology.
This forum is exclusively designed to build an academic communication platform for outstanding young scholars and to strengthen their understanding of the policy about USST’s development, disciplinary construction, scientific research and faculty team, through which more global talents are gathered for USST to build a high-level local university.
