On Feb 5th, the minimally invasive surgery simulation system made its appearance on Health Class of CCTV2. During the class, Prof. Ma Lulin, director of urology, Peking University Third Hospital and Prof. Zhang Qian, director of urology, Peking University First Hospital, gave a lecture about the operation and training of minimally invasive surgical system.
Ten years grind a sword. Prof. Song Chengli has carried out the research in minimally invasive surgery simulation and training technology, and successively won the support from Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and trained 5 graduates in the field of minimally invasive medical simulaion technology and gained 7 intellectual property rights. After industrialization, the system has been optimized, upgraded and equipped in such hospitals as   Ruijin Hospital, West China Hospital and First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and minimally invasive medical training centers like Medtronic, Johnson& Johnson and Olympus, and trained more than 20 thousand medical workers all over the world, contributing a lot to the minimally invasive medical education and technological progress. The project has successively won Special Award of Shanghai Int’l Industry Fair and Science and Technology Progress Award of Machinery Industry.
At present, assisted by the medical-engineering interdisciplinary strategy, Prof. Song Chengli has been working together with top medical experts from West China Hospital and AI experts from United Imaging Intelligence to develop the latest-generation medical simulators in hopes of recognizing medical instrument and surgical steps and traces, and automatically optimizing surgical process, which pushes ahead the progress and development of minimally invasive medicine.
