USST Wins Another “Winner’s Cup” at the 18th “Challenge Cup” Competition

From May 27th to 28th, the final round of the 18th “Challenge Cup”of Shanghai University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition was held on East China Normal University. After an intra-school selection, USST submitted 14 works to the intra-city competition. After the fierce competition, 9 USST teams entered the final round. During the two-day competition, each of our teams, well prepared, brought their advantages into full play in displaying their works, and finally won 3 special awards, 2 first awards,4 second awards, 4 third awards. USST has won another “Winner’s Cups”, reaching a new record in the total number of final projects and special awards.

Since November 2022, the USST Youth League Committee has initiated the preparation and organization of the “Challenge Cup” Competition. Highly valued by school leaders, and with great efforts of such departments and schools as undergraduate school (teaching affairs office), graduate school, scientific research academy, school of innovation and entrepreneurship, the committee sticks to the theory of promoting innovation through competitions, supporting teaching through innovation, to foster and strengthen the sense of innovation, entrepreneurship and practical capabilities of young students. The Committee helps teachers and students know about the competition’s regulations, interpret the evaluation rules, and guide students to write the statements of their works; excellent instructors and senior judges were also invited to give face-to-face guidance to the participating teachers and students so that they could gradually improve competitive competence after several rounds of project selection and careful cultivation. Before the municipal competition, the Committee also organized the participating teams to drill many times, and provided professional help for each team.
The series of competitions of the “Challenge Cup” is a nationally leading, demonstrative and grassroots competition jointly sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Ministry of Education, China Association for Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, All-China Students Federation and local governments. It is known as the “Olympic” pageant of contemporary university students’ scientific and technological innovation. The municipal competition has come to an end. As the final round of the 18th “Challenge Cup” of National University Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition  will be held in Guizhou University in the coming October, our project team will continue to work hard in order to enter the national competition final.
