Two Postdoctoral Research Stations Newly Established

USST will utilize Future Optics, Intelligent Manufacturing, Medical Devices and Rehabilitation Engineering, the construction of the "3 Engineering International Laboratories" and the "1 System Management Characteristic Platform" as carriers, integrate the advantages of various disciplines, and vigorously promote interdisciplinary innovation in fields such as medical engineering, artificial intelligence, and intelligent manufacturing.
USST has long adhered to the main strategic goal of "strengthening the school with talents", and during the period of strategic opportunity for talent construction in Shanghai and the construction of high-level local universities, it has accelerated the construction of the postdoctoral team. Since 2019, the school has implemented the "Hujiang Postdoctoral" funding plan, forming a main team of "Hujiang Postdoctoral" and "faculty postdoctoral", supplemented by "scientific research postdoctoral". In 2022, the school revised the Postdoctoral Management Measures of University of Shanghai to provide significant policy support in welfare benefits, professional title promotion, and on-campus teaching for postdoctoral researchers. The new policy funded Hujiang Postdoctoral with a total of nearly 1.2 million RMB over three years, and encourages postdoctoral researchers to apply for various postdoctoral projects such as the "Postdoctoral Overseas Talent Introduction Program", "National Postdoctoral Personnel Program", and "Shanghai Super Postdoctoral Funding Program." Once approved, the relevant benefits can be accumulated, and the total funds over three years reached up to 2.4 million yuan. At the same time, postdoctoral researchers at USST can be evaluated for senior professional titles during their stay, and Hujiang postdoctoral researchers can directly stay in the school after their tenure. Postdoctoral researchers are provided preferential support in various aspects such as applying for transitional housing and household registration relocation, enjoying the same benefits as faculty and staff.
USST has produced a group of high-level innovative and distinguished young postdoctoral talents for technology, who have gradually become an important force for high-level innovative talents and high-level scientific research innovation teams at the university. In recent years, the postdoctoral team has accumulated over hundreds approvals for national natural science funds, China Postdoctoral Science Fund General Funds, and Shanghai "Super Postdoctoral" funds. The growth of the postdoctoral team will further promote high-level scientific research innovation at the school and promote high-level connotation development, aiming to achieve the goal of building a distinctive first-class university of science and technology in the near future.
