Xu Feng Leads A Delegation to Visit USST

On the afternoon of April 11th, Xu Feng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Science and Technology Work, led a delegation to visit USST. Wang Lingyu, Secretary of the Party Committee of USST, and Ding Xiaodong, President of USST, accompanied them to visit the Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center, Intelligent Manufacturing Laboratory, Machine Intelligence Research Institute, and Nanophotonics Laboratory.
Ding Xiaodong introduced the history and the status quo of USST, as well as the construction of the high-level university’s first-class disciplines, technological innovation, and achievement transformation. Ding said that USST is willing to actively participate in major scientific and technological innovation projects in Shanghai, become a pioneer in promoting the integration of science and education and industry and education, and undertake more reform tasks from the Municipal Science and Technology Commission.
Xu Feng highly praised the high-level university construction measures and achievements of our university in recent years. She pointed out that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the construction of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center. Promoting the deep integration of science, education, and industry, cultivating new productive forces, and promoting the transformation of scientific research paradigms are the focus of current scientific and technological work. The Municipal Science and Technology Commission has made arrangements in setting up basic research pilot areas, tackling key core technologies, cultivating innovative talents, creating an innovative atmosphere and ecology, and reforming institutional mechanisms. She said that the Municipal Science and Technology Commission would go all out to support USST to play a greater role in the construction of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center, go all out to support USST to cultivate and introduce more high-end talents, go all out to support USST in the pilot reform of promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and she hoped that USST will further play the role of innovation as a source of innovation in strategic leading industries such as integrated circuits, intelligent manufacturing, and biomedicine, increase scientific and technological research efforts in the cultivation of cutting-edge technologies and future industries, deepen applied basic research in related disciplines, actively integrate into the Yangtze River Delta scientific and technological innovation landscape, participate in and promote the “Belt and Road” international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges, and make greater contributions to the construction of the Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Center.
