From June 12th to 18th, the 7th National College Student Art Performance Exhibition was inaugurated at Xiangyang, Hubei Province. USST scored highest record and won several prizes.
During the exhibition, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Workshop was involved in the Art Practice Workshop. The team members deconstructed unique eastern wisdom from traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques and recreated two "new" intangible cultural heritage works in the form of installations: "three-dimensional tapestry swing" and "chair Tai Bai", reflecting the combination of art and technology.
On June 14th, our school's drama program "Ode to Gongpu" was involved in the live performance at the National Art Exhibition. Original musical drama "Ode to Gongpu " tells the heroic story of Mr. Li Gongpu, a great modern Chinese patriot, a democratic warrior, and an outstanding alumnus of our school who actively joined in the democratic movement of revolt against Japanese aggression. Despite numerous crises, he resolutely opposed the civil war and advocated peace. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to the people and the fight against Japanese aggression, and ultimately end up with death heroically after being shot and assassinated by Kuomintang spies. "Ode to Gongpu Song" was performed by 12 non-art-major students from 7 colleges of our school. They underwent countless trials and polishing behind the scenes, and endured nearly a year of hard training. Finally, this exciting program was presented, winning warm applauses from the audience.
The National College Student Art Performance Exhibition is held every three years and is currently the most influential college student art exhibition in China with the highest standard, covering the largest scale. 282 works of more than 7400 teachers and students from 31 provinces (districts, cities), Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions were selected and invited to participate in this exhibition.
