Visit Paid by President Ding to Hainan Universities for Exchange and Investigation

On June 20th，President Ding Xiaodong led heads of the related USST departments to exchange ideas with Hainan Medical University, Hainan Normal University and Hainan University.
On June 20th, Ding Xiaodong and his delegation first visited and exchanged ideas at Hainan Medical College. Chen Guoqiang, President of Hainan Medical College, and Zhang Caihong and Li Xianhong, welcomed and attended the symposium. At the symposium, Ding Xiaodong expressed appreciation for the profound cultural heritage and achievements of reform and development made by Hainan Medical College with its more than 70 years’ running-school history, and expressed the hope that the two schools will strengthen the communication and cooperation at the new stage, and cultivate more high-level medical talents who can better serve the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. Chen Guoqiang warmly welcomed Ding Xiaodong and his delegation, and gave a detailed introduction to the school's reform and development, discipline construction, scientific research, and the construction of the Provincial Academy of Medical Sciences. He pointed out that medical education not only shares the responsibility of strengthening Hong Kong through education, but also the obligation of building a healthy island. Hainan Medical University must further accelerate its development pace, provide important intellectual and talent support for the development of health and biopharmaceutical industries in the free trade port, and also provide important basic support for building a higher-level health island and optimizing the soft environment of the free trade port. During the research period, Zhang Caihong and Chen Guoqiang accompanied Ding Xiaodong and his delegation to the school’s History Museum and Hainan Academy of Medical Sciences
At the noon, Chen Guoqiang accompanied Ding Xiaodong and his delegation to Hainan Normal University. Xu Mei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hainan Normal University, accompanied the visit to the school's art museum and watched the exhibition of Li Brocade’s Cultural Preservation and Inheritance Innovation Design Achievements. Ding Xiaodong, Chen Guoqiang and his delegation gained a detailed understanding of the preservation, inheritance, research, and achievement transformation of the Li Brocade. Xu Mei presented Li Brocade’s cultural and creative products to Ding Xiaodong as a gift.
In the afternoon, Ding Xiaodong and his delegation paid a visit to Hainan University. Luo Qingming, President of Hainan University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the symposium. Ding Xiaodong introduced the historical development and basic condition of USST. He expressed the hope that both sides could fully leverage the unique disciplinary advantages of the two universities, strengthen exchange and cooperation in areas such as deep-sea resource exploration and development, deep-sea underwater technology research and development to jointly promote the development of the two universities. Luo Qingming pointed out that Hainan University has fully utilized the policy advantages, natural geographical advantages, and application scenario advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port and achieved certain achievements in discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research innovation, infrastructure construction to serve the local socio-economic development needs of Hainan. He hopes that this visit will serve as an opportunity for the two universities to continue deepening exchanges and cooperation, and improve their capabilities of serving local economic development. Before the meeting, accompanied by Gao Diangong, Vice President of Hainan University, Ding Xiaodong and his delegation visited the History Museum of Hainan University and the State Key Laboratory for the Utilization of Marine Resources in the South China Sea, to learn more about the historical development and scientific and technological innovation of Hainan University.
